TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 27 Feb 2012 23:33

Just came back to this thread to see if many people are interested.

I am now in shock! Why was this removed???

Hoping that it is reinstated quickley.

Lost marbles comes to mind.

I too was told that my son was not dislec.... (I still haven't learned to spell that word) I raised the subject with his form teacher, she said that they had looked into it and he didn't meet the criteria. They hadn't said anything to me about it eith before or after their "tests".

I was a rather quiet parent in those days, but if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have accepted this from the teacher without question.

Thanks for bring the petition to our attention Ann, hope it does well.

I was shocked to see this thread rr,d. Oldest girl got one hours extra reading but had to leave her regular school and travel a twenty minute bus trip to get her help, so missing almost two hours of schooling. A few years later the school was given a specialist once a week to test children that teachers thought were falling behind in their lessons, oldest son was one of the children tested and we got a letter refering him to another specilist, we went with our son to the place which happened to be the hospital that my husband worked in, he was tested for almost 2 hours, at the end of the test the specilist told us that he was 4 years behind but not to worry he might pick up in school and did not recommend anywhere or thing that we could help. He said that he would write to the school to say that we had kept our appointment.
I saw red, i asked him would he like that answer if it was his child that he was told just to get on with it. I was livid and my husband said to me that i could not talk to anyone like i was, i kicked my husband under the table.A few days later we got a letter to say that my son had got a 2 year placement in a school specailising in dyslexia. He came on brilliantly.I was told 8-9 year olds come on best if refered around that age.
Betty.

Hi Bracken anybody who is registered with GR whether a paying or non paying member can 'take offence' at a post or thread and report it by pressing the report button at the top. GR then decide if it should be removed. Sometimes it is a legitimate protest and sometimes it is done for spite. As we are never given a reason we never know.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion whether some else aggrees or not it's up to them If after reading some of it they have two choices either to come off the thread or carry on reading
