Watching horizon on bbc 2. Seeing the mind boggling research into bio mechanics and genetic engineering, immortality is not really far away. Watch it on iplayer if you get a chance, it is really incredible what the cutting edge of science is achieving.

Have just come onboard for enlightenment and find a thread about dying!
Well I would like notice too when my time comes....I'd like to see my family before I go as when my three closest family died, each time I wasn't there.

Of course I don't want to leave the party because I'm too nosey and hate to miss anything ;-)

Everyone picks music for funerals.I,unfortunately have attended too many recently but was amused(wrong word I know) when my next door neighour chose 'I want to get you on a slow boat to China' :-) and another 'we'll meet again'.....like to think we will all meet again...don't know where don't know when ;-) <3

Morning folks and thank you all very much for your input as its a subject people seem uncomfortable to deal with, usually. Strange really, as we are dealing with the dead every day in this great hobby of ours! Great quotes, Oliie and will watch that programme on Iplayer, Eldrick.

Enjoy every minute of this great day :-D <3

This is wierd.I woke up this morning thinking about the term about shuffling off this mortal coil, but wasn't sure if it should be immortal coil instead, so looked it up.This thread caught my eye....
Barbra, my mother died in '97 after being in a coma for a week. She opened her eyes and said my name, even though hadn't didn't recognised me for years(dementia). Her eyes used to have a blank look in them, as if no-one was home in her body, but they were clear and bright a few seconds before her death. Have often wondered how that could happened, or what she meant.

Well in July 2009 I was there at the gates apparently and they were half open - I have always said for many years if I met my mother at the gates of St. Peter I would either come back or go the other way and I reckon that is what happened.

Have fun and plan your funeral - last chance you will get to have your say ;-)

A quick poem for BC ;-)

To “shuffle off this mortal coil”
Escape its tangles, trials and toil
Has oft of late, I will admit,
Had some appeal forsooth. To wit:
avoiding aging, aches and fears.
The risk of more heartbroken tears.
And yet…to see the sun arise
A smile within a loved one's eyes
Unfolding petals, music sweet
Diamonded pavements at my feet
The full moon beaming from above
A child’s smile, a puppy's love.
Small things still take the breath away.
So if I can, I think I’ll stay!"

and if we are planning our funeral, what music would we all like?

Let's try and lift our spirits :-D
