I haven't posted on here for years but felt i had to when i saw this sad news... Jim was very kind to me at my first 'meet' in London a few years ago and gave me some excellent research advice.. the posts on here show how much he will be missed. RIP Jim.

I remember Grandpa Jim from a number of years back and I was only thinking about him a few days ago. Sad to hear the news.

"I remember Jim from the earlier days of GR. At the time I was going through some kind of teenage angst phase and he gave me some good advice. He said he had a book which would cheer me up. I still have the book and the note it came with. I remember him as a very kind and genuine person".
