Thanks for the update Liz. I suspect that Deanna has been suffering in silence for a while thinking that any pain was related to the stroke she had or other problems which is why it was not picked up. She has not been a well person for quite a while but has always been so very cheerful about everything with a great sense of humour. I hope the hospital is managing the pain for her and that she is comfortable. sending her lots of hugs and my love

Sending loads of positive thoughts to Deanna that just the right place and care can be decided and arranged soon.

I do hope that the family can find her a place in a hospice.The care there is second to none.

I remember her recovering quite well from her stroke and her positive attitude.I also remember asking her if she was called after Deanna Durbin...which she was!
Maybe some of you don't remember the famous singer and actress in the forties!
My thoughts are with her and her family.

Just had a message from Tony to say they are waiting for biopsy results and that a bone scan is needed to have a better estimate of time remaining and also to see if they can do some targeted radiotherapy to reduce the pain from one particular growth.

DIscussions about a hospice or palliative care at home have gone on but not sure if anything is finalised yet. I gather that Deanna is still confused so not really making sense of what is offered etc.

I can only sympathise with them all being under such pressure to get things right for Deanna while feeling so sad.

Jean, Deanna had fought other health battles, and most impressive was her return to the boards after a stroke.
She had been feeling unwell for some time and had a fall after which she felt much worse and was eventually checked out, and then went into hospital about a week ago.
I am just glad I had the phone number to ring her son and find out what was happening as I hadn't been able to get a reply from their home number and realised something must be wrong. I didn't know she had been taken into hospital until I spoke with her son on Sunday.

She and her son are very close so it's a bitter blow for him, having seen his Mum fight back so often but this time will not win her battle, bless her.

Purple, this seems very sudden to me, had she been poorly before? I feel for her son having to hear this news, as you say, life is very unfair, absolute rotters seem to never get these problems.
My heart calls out to Deanna, and I wish her freedom from pain and a short illness. Thanks for letting us know, it is very confusing sometimes when people disappear off the boards and we dont hear of them again.

I hope Tony has had a chance to find these messages and pass them on to Deanna, if she is well enough to hear them. I expect he is running around trying to do everything for his Mum and Dad and maybe trying to sort out a hospice place as well.
I have sent him a text to say we are all rooting for the whole family and sending lots of love to Deanna especially
