Sylvia, I know I've already said on Mo's thread, I'm so very pleased about your wonderful news and am hoping that you won't need to have any radiation. You have been so brave and positive throughout, I really admire you. Good luck.


Brenda, I was very sorry to hear about your hubby. It's nice to know that your son and grandchildren want and need you with them. Enjoy your three months stay with them.....it will also be nice for you to miss our British winter.

Just looking in to see how things are going.My very best friend had a mastectomy 25 years ago and she is now 75 and a very active person who is always helping others.She is always so positive.
I think that positive people are attracted to one another.It doesn't mean we are insensitive to others,but just get on with whatever we have to do and always there to listen.

I am not intending to move to OZ,I have an even larger family here and do like where I live.My son is hoping to come for a holiday here in July,so it may not seem as bad when I leave.It's over 3 years since I've seen them,but we talk every week.

I am slowly getting things sorted.....as well as getting things ready to go to OZ in Dec for 3 months to help son and grandchildren over the long summer holiday.It will be good for them and for me.My son says they need some "mothering".He copes very well since his wife died,but I'm looking forward to doing some"girlie" things with my granddaughter who is only 10 and my grandson who starts at a new school in Feb.

Sylvia, I am so pleased things have gone so well for you thus far and hope you will indeed need no radiation or other treatments now. You made a brave decision and I can only admire you for it. I watched a programme on tv recently where a mother and daughter had both breasts removed as there was a genetic link to breast cancer, so many women in their family had suffered previously so they decided to lessen all risks by having mastectomies before anything developed. They were so incredibly positive and you have been the same. Hope the medication can help with the spinal problems so you can be mobile and painfree with no other worries hanging over you now.

Take care and treat yourself very gently and kindly as you continue your recovery

I thought I would update on here .............................


Went to see the surgeon this morning ......... only had to wait 15 minutes past the appointment time


She went through the pathology report ................ everything is clear, although I did apparently have both pre-cancerous and "atypical cells" of lobular cancer spread throughout the tissue

so da*n good job it was found so early.


I have been referred automatically to the Cancer Agency to see a radiation specialist ......... but the surgeon sees no need for me to have any further treatment. But the radiation guy makes the final decision ......... and she said he is a very practical guy.


so it looks like I won't have to have any radiation ....... we'll know more next Monday.

The drain is still in ............. the nurse did come today but decided not to remove for at least one more day




I have made an appointment to have my hair washed and dried this afternoon. :-)





Brenda ..... I hope things are getting easier in sorting out your OH's affairs It's a difficult job. xxxx

Have you had the drain removed yet? Hope you have, so that you can now get back to normal and have a shower or bath again.

As the others have said you are such a brave and positive lady, it's great to be that way.....I just wish I could be as half as brave and positive as you are. Well done!
