Silly Sausage Report 16 Sep 2011 16:24

I cant believe how I have gain weight since I turned 40 4 years ago, I had an hystercomy when I was 37 and changed jobs, where I went from being on my feet all day to doing nill excercise and sitting on my bum all day, In August this year I decided to go back to good old fashioned calorie counting and have managed to do zumba on the Wii 5 times a week 25mins I have up it from beginners to medium , my goal is too stick to 1100 aday and basicly cut out all the rubbish from my diet, I have lost 9lbs sill 1st and 12lbs to go. :-D

Hayley, up to you, but you are really doing it the hard way! And more likely to regain weight when you stop dieting. 1100 calories is pitifully few especially if you are exercising hard.
Just my opinion! But I do like to eat a lot so it wouldn't suit me.

Dolly Report 5 Oct 2011 08:29

Morning everyone, thanks for keeping me going. I am off for a weigh in again today, I missed WW 2 weeks ago as I was away, I went last week and had lost 1 1/2lbs, which brings my total of loss to 23 1/2 lbs in16 weeks so I am very pleased with that. I still have a fair way to go to get to 10 stone which was my aim, I started at 14st 1lb and now weigh 12st 5lbs, I keep setting myself a challenge to aim for, at the moment its to get to the 11's and to also lose 7lbs before Christmas. I do have blips, like yesterday, I just couldn't stop eating, I stuffed all day and felt really sluggish this morning, but today I am back to feeling better. I didn't eat things I shouldn't have yesterday, just my usual food but loads of it!! :-0
we will see today what happens, I don't feel like I've lost any weight at all.

Well done all of you who are trying hard to lose weight, its not easy but well done! :-)

Hi everyone, I lost just 1/2lb today, so not quite the 2 stone mark but very nearly.

Brilliant Dolly. You inspired me to keep on the staight and narrow. Nearly in the 11's and would ideally like to be slightly lower, despite having a weekend away. It is just really good to fit clothes better or need a smaller size.

Keep inspiring us

Barbara Report 22 Nov 2011 20:32

Hi. I have also put on three stone and increasing. I find I sit down much more than I used to and if I go out anywhere I have to use crutches, which means I cannot do much walking either. I have tried swimming, or even walking in the water, but my right leg keeps going in cramp. I get really fed up and must admit I had not thought of asking doc. to refer me to a dietician. I recently lost my husband and the fact he was ill for a long time has left me very very tired and it does not matter what I do I cannot seem to get away from it.

Barbara :-D

brummiejan Report 23 Nov 2011 17:15

Barbara, do not despair. After such a difficult time it's not surprising things have gone awry. Exercise is a very tiny factor in weight loss, what you eat is overwhelmingly more important, so your mobility problems are not an obstacle.
All weight loss programmes ultimately depend on swapping rubbish for healthy food,. Apart from seeing a dietician, consider a slimming group, you will get lotsof support and it gets you out to meet new people too.

Most importantly - you shouldn't ever feel hungry or deprived..

Good luck to you!

I was at the surgery yesterday getting checked out to see if I do really have asthma, the nurse said after the tests that I am only very slightly asthmatic so do not need the twice daily inhaler I have been using for years. I think when I was first diagnosed in 2004 I was using a lot of cleaning materials etc as I was looking after my friend's student houses and also some elderly neighbours homes. I forgot the inhaler when I went on holiday in Sept. so it made me wonder if I really needed it, as I had no illeffects or problems while there or since. The nurse weighed me and I have lost a couple of kilos, she said pounds but I soon corrected her lol, 2 kgs is actually 4.4 lbs so am happy with that. I would lose more weight if I had the energy to do more brisk walking or exercise but with the fm and arthritis that's not easy to do.

i am cutting back on red meat and eat lots of veg and such. I have been watching the prog called the Food Hospital and that's interesting, telling how different foods affect different illnesses.

Good luck with the weight loss folks

Huia Report 24 Nov 2011 04:16

Hello Liz, long time no talk. Good on you for losing that weight. I am losing it slowly. I found recently when I had been down on my knees to do something that I stood up again without holding onto anything. I did it without even thinking, so I guess my weight loss is helping, as previously I had to haul myself up by holding onto a bench or chair or some such.

In my late middle age I was using a puffer each day but I eventually decided that I no longer needed it. It is several years since I used one.

Morning everyone,

Thank you for looking in and adding to my thread.
I think weight problems become more so as we get older.
Sorry you have lost your husband Barbara, I wish you all the best with your health and hope you can get your health problems sorted.

Well done Liz with your weight loss, I am glad your asthma isn't a chronic asthma, I've had asthma since being a baby, it is a dreadful thing to cope with when you haven't got treatment correct and things go wrong, having said that mine is pretty well under control.

I went for me weekly weigh in yesterday, unfortunately I didn't lose this week, I stayed the same :-| better luck next week.

Have a lovely weekend all of you.
Take care.

Hi Huia, well done you, I struggle to get up if I go down on both knees as I have arthritis and it hurts so I have to hold on to things, don't get down too often if I can help it lol

i really need to lose at least a stone and more but slowly will do, gives my skin time to adjust lol, well that's my excuse!

Dolly, I am sure you will show a loss next time you go to your weigh in.

Morning Everyone :-)

I am off for my usual weigh in today. lat week I had lost 1lb, so hopefully this week I'd have done well too.
I am gradually getting over my chest infection, I still have a hacking cough but I must get out today, I haven't been out of the house for nearly a week! its driving me mad being indoors, although it has given me a chance to get my knitting finished. I want to go and get some more knitting sorted out today as I cannot sit down and do nothing, I also need some more library books as I have finished those too.
Have a really good day all of you.

Dolly I know how you feel I went blind nearly 2 years ago and I suppose I
have been comfort eating I have tried to loose some weight but am finding it impossible. I am frightened to go out for a walk on my own.
But i will try to cut down on my intake of food.

Dolly Report 8 Dec 2011 07:43

Morning ladies.

Margaret, sorry that life is difficult for you..
Losing your sight must have been terrible, I cannot imagine how that must be for you. I can however understand the comfort eating, I have done it for years, it all becomes a vicious circle.
I haven't worked now since I was 40 due to bad health, I'mnow nearly 55, so it's been a while that I am a stay at home wife and mum. I can't say its been easy to accept having illness that gets in the way of life and how I wanted my life to be, and to date I still don't think I have accepted it, but I do know life isn't getting easier especially when I am over weight, it is restricting and making my illnesses far worse than they need be, hence the weight loss.
Keep up your good eating habits they do work, you can always exercise at home be it sitting down. as long as your heart races for a while it will burn caklories as long as no more than you need is being eaten.
I am sure you know all that without me saying.
Good Luck Margaret, I hope you do lose the weight you want. :-)

Hayley well done!
I am so pleased you like your new look :-) and are happy with your new size! Its such an echievement to succeed in weight loss, it is really hard to do but determination gets us there in the end.
keep up the good work hayley, you're doing well :-)

I went for my weigh in, I have lost another 1lb so that is 27 lbs in all. I am really pleased as back in August for mine and hubbys 25th Anniversary I didn't quite make the 1 1/2 stones I wanted to lose, I missed it by I think a couple of lbs, but I am now looking at nearly 2 stone!
I am going for 1 more stone and see how I look, I may do more depending on how I feel. I should be for my height between 8 1/2 and 9 stone, but I cannot imagine how skinny I would be and don't want to look ill through weight loss, I shall have to see how it goes.

Huia Report 8 Dec 2011 07:58

I have been happy with my slow weight loss over the past 19 months. I still have some way to go to a better figure but am certainly finding it easier to do things than before. Unfortunately this is the season for overeating :-( I went to an oldies' concert and afternoon tea today but didnt overeat quite as much as I usually do. But there are another 3 or 4 Christmas things to attend in the next 2 weeks, so will have to be firm with myself.

Well done Dolly, you will know when you feel right and ready to stay at a certain weight. My o.h. has lost several stones since he became diabetic and started cycling to and from work most days, but several people say he looks older and not so healthy, strange really as he was quite overweight but I too have been thinking he looks like a little old man now. He will be 58 in Feb and is only 5'5" tall, he looks really small now and because he has a knee problem which isn't fixable, he doesn't walk well either so look older than he is.

Huia, I am sure you can find a happy medium when out gadding about lol You have done well and as you say it's good to find life a bit easier when you have lost some weight.

I haven't weighed myself lately but I know that my skirts are all a bit looser round the waist so that's a start. I am eating less and still trying to eat the right things but can't resist the odd chocolate treat. It would be better for me if I could take more exercise but with my fm and arthritis I find it hard to do much more than the occasional brisk walk, and if I am with o.h, he can't walk briskly anyway, never has. When we first went out together in 1996 I would be walking at my usual pace and have to keep stopping for him to catch up lol I said he knew his place, several paces behind me lol

I think over Christmas everyone indulges a little bit but as long as we don't go mad, we can try harder in the New Year and get rid of the extra ounces.

Keep up the good work, folks

I went to a local funeral today and ate a bit more than I should have at the 'after match function'. These country people put on a great spread. Last week I bought a sexy black skirt at the op shop so I cant put on too much weight or I wont get a chance to wear it!

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 10 Dec 2011 03:57

Oh Huia, but you were being economical by eating more than you should have at the 'after match function' You can cut back at home to redress the balance and buy a sexy top to go with the skirt, lol Now what I want to know is where are you planning to wear the skirt ?????
