Hi Huia,
Sorry I missed your reply, how naughty of you eating all those chocolate kisses :O
You will regret it, but isn't chocolate lovely!! ;-)

Sandy my GP surgery has nurses that we can visit for help with weight, but all they will do is weigh you and say well done, I've been to them before, it didn't work.
I have had a phone call today from the NHS Why Weight, I have been offered 12 weeks free at weight watchers and another 12 weeks if I am doing ok in the first 12 weeks, I can get back to them for more options if I need to. I am happy to start ww and see how it goes.

I have the same problem, it annoys me when people say walk or exercise, i know its not there fault , but with fibro the more u do the more u hurt, the best thing i ever did was the pain management programe, , we learned about pacing, if you do the washing up and it takes all day so what because by the time youve started hurting you have gone to far, so wash a plate rest wash another then rest and so on, i used to worry about people coming to my home if i hadnt hooverd or dusted if its brought up i say would you like to do it subject is soon dropped.

hope ur doctor can help you xx agree with walking though slowley x

Dolly, I put on 500 gm weight after eating those choc. kisses. That is over a pound. But I have now lost most of it again. I never learn. I did manage to resist temptation when I was shopping today.

Huia.

Huia, thats the trouble having a small amount of chocolate, it soon amounts to a whole packet! thats my downfall, I don't know when to stop lol.
I am hoping this time I will manage to drop the weight off.
I don't have BP problems or high cholesterol or diabeties in fact my cholesterol is 2.3 and the bad cholesterol is barely countable, so thats excellent, its not as if I don't like veg, fruit and healthy foods, I also love the fattening foods as well, I'm not a cake or biscuit eater, I prefer savoury especially cheese and adore pastry.

ladylol I have managed to set myself at a pace for fm, I used to rush through the house like a tornado, that was a few years back, but these days I just can't, I have a lot of pain, usually the worst in my feet, but yesterday I started with back pain and I still have it today, so not much will get done today,
I don't do more than I can manage these days which is why the weight gain, I just need to learn to eat according to my calorie burn off. I do have a slow metabolism and should have known better than to eat for comfort, its all my fault that I am this size, and only I can sort it, which is what I am going to do :-)

Good on you Dolly. Slow but sure is the thing. If you lose it too quickly you might find you cant resist a craving. I am behind you (trying to hide my own figure!).

Hi all :-)

I've been out today and bought a rowing machine, I had one years ago and loved it. I am hoping this will strengthen my back and legs as well as my arms, my back has become very weak over the last couple of years, I have had a go on the rower, its great, I'm not going to over do it, I've had it on the easiest setting
Also had a letter through from 'Why Weight' with all the vouchers for WWatchers, I start on June 1st, next Wednesday.

Hi Dolly

Good luck with joining WWatchers. I joined them on 26th Feb this year and have lost 26lb in 13 weeks - still got a long way to go but am loving the plan. I have been a yoyo dieter for most of my adult life but I really do think that this will work.

I am an online member (so don't go to a class) - it is well worth joining in on line - there is a lovely, friendly and very supportive community there who help keep you on track between meetings. There are lots of inspirational blogs to read which help your motivation too.

Hope it works for you

Tina x :-)

Years ago I had a neighbour who joined weightwatchers. She always seemed to have put on weight when they had the weigh in, so she gave up.

Huia, who was 700 gms (about 1 & half pounds) lighter this morning than yesterday, yippee.

Well done Huia, and Dolly too with getting your rowing machine. I am back down to the weight I was before I went away at the weekend so will keep trying to eat a bit less and see what the doc says when I go to see him. I haven't had my bp taken for weeks, must ask o.h. to get his machine out and do it for me but not after I have tried to book our holiday, cos that will have really stressed me out lol

I feel so righteous when I turn away from the reduced price chocolate croissants - a year or so ago I would have snapped them up and enjoyed them, now I don't buy them even if they are really cheap.
I buy cheap fruit and nut chocolate from the supermarket and as it's a bit sickly I can't eat as much as I would of my favourite chocolate so that helps limit my intake. I have also finished the big box of chocs o.h. bought me for Easter so no more temptation there till my birthday chocs lol

Puss, I only do what I feel like doing and won't push myself too far, it's not worth it to feel really bad the next day. I won't drive and will cancel apptmts if I don't feel up to driving - I find the poor sleep with fm as bad as the pain.

Keep up the good work folks,
Lizx

I start with Weight watchers on wednesday, its a 12 week course done through 'Why Weight' i was refered by my GP to them. If I do well in that 12 weeks they may take me on for another 12 weeks, so hopefully I'd have lost a good amount of weight in that time.
I can't wait for wednesday, I feel pretty good about getting started :-)

Morning Barbra,

I have been fine thank you. How are you?

I went to WW yesterday, very informative and loads of useful information. A lovely lady caled Bev runs it now and was very helpful in explaining everything, I came away feeling so much more positive than I have before.
I will see how the weight loss goes over the next 3 months. I'll check in here and let you all know how its going :-)

Many thanks to you all for helping me.

Oh yes, keep us posted Dolly

I have to make an apptmt to see my doc, he wanted to check my bp after a couple of months and my weight loss lol As he didn't weigh me to start with I think that's a bit daft but seem to be losing a little bit, around 3 -5 lbs over the last ten weeks.

O.h. checked my bp last evening and it was almost the same as when he last checked it in March lol
