Eveline I DID read History :)) ...English Civil War, French Revolution, Russian Revolution, American war of Independence and Civil.... Plenty of "Aristo's" in those... but not always on the same 'side'?

Yes of course we are "all from peasants"...at some time in history all our ancestors stood upright and became hunter /gatherers/ farmers. Some acquired land and built property along the way, they explored the world and became wealthy and passed on that wealth and employed others .... and so on...

but that is no reason to either unduly blame them or to unduly praise the Ag labs who toiled for them...lol good and bad, idle and hard working amongst both.

'Good breeding' is identified by the use of good manners...whether they are shown by Kings or commoners I think :))

BC I know I can't help it as it was in me blood ..me gran was a barmaid and me gt gt grandads had drinking houses ... oh does that make my aristos bad mannered cos they were publicans as well as landlords ?

Island I have to agree that the shouty line stuck out ..it didn't frighten me but shouted that once again somebody is having a go about us plebs. Not maybe the originator but possibly the mmmm answers !

Rambling Report 15 Feb 2011 18:09

LOL Uzzi I amaze myself ;) from sanity to stupidity in so few moves sometimes lol.

Dizzi, I think you would get a long queue of volunteers for that time machine...but only if you could ensure they got back to this century safely to tell the tale, and they would be carrying a list of questions we'd all like answers to :)

BUT! I really like this thread as it has brought Uggers back too the board :)

Anyway, out of interest how does one define an 'aristocrat'? does it imply only those with a title?

xx
