I when to a medium for the first time last year and he told me things that i had not told anyone. He also told me how my dad died. In November i saw the medium again and he told me i need to let my dad go.When my dad died he had not been in touch with me for 18mths was told that he is sorry and that he can not go until i let him go. The other thing that the medium told me about is this i often will say to my OH who was at the door and he will reply that there was no one at the door but i have seen someone walk up our drive. OH did not belive me until our 4year grandson said but grandad someone did come up the drive i saw them too

Mick - you say I hadn't seen my gran for 11 years - I couldn't as I told you she was DEAD. She died when I was a child, never even visited the country I was living in then and she did not walk out of my house - just was there, looked at me, pursed her lips and was gone!

I asked for a reason - you can't give me one - there isn't one. I have looked for a logical reason for over 50 years!

Margot - I mentioned the Celtic genes

Amongst those of us who have experienced 'unexplained events etc' - how many have Celtic/Gaelic genes?

As I said earlier I have, two manx gparents, 1 irish and 1 scots. That is some mix but I blame the manx line!

just on my way out Chris ( of the house lol not life , touchwood!) so just quickly...the Irish side of my family seems to be the predominant one in terms of temperament and looks and that seems to be the side where the more 'spiritual' experiences have been.

I think there is a Celtic 'affinity' with the 'supernatural' for want of time to think of a better way of putting it. Maybe I'd put it down to the old races being in touch with nature and patterns of existence?

Having lived in the IOM I can certainly appreciate the importance of their folk lore .

Re Frank's comment( Cooper) I read "mother" to be a woman who had miscarried but wouldn't be a mother unless she had children at another time. It is possible to have a miscarriage and not know that you are pregnant- married or otherwise.
As for telling everyone in the hall of a potential miscarriage, spiritualism is about the passing of a person.Most mediums I have ever met have always said to their intended member of the congregation 'May I come to you' that person has the opportunity to say 'no thank you'.If a medium is giving a description of someone who has passed and you don't want to 'take it' there is nothing to make you accept the interpretation of their message. If you are given information, no matter what that information is, it is your choice as to whether you think it is relevant or not.-jl

good afternoon every one ,
this thread takes me back 55 years ...i was at a friends birthday party , when i heard my grandfather call my name , on getting home about an hour later ,i asked where he was ,told he was upstairs , 2 seconds later there was aloud thud and my gran calling , he had just dropped down dead , did he wait for me to get home ?

I also have had heard things .
Back in 1994 I was in my kitchen and heard my name being called
I turned around and noone was there i was in the house by my self at that time. but at the same time i felt as though i was wrapped in cotton wool (is the only way i can discribe it )
My mum died just one week later, now wether that was to help me or prepare me for my mums death i dont know .
There have been other seperate things happen as well . since then .
We moved into our bungalow nearly 3 yrs ago now .. and in the back bedroom i can smell a womans purfume it's also in the hallway
then i find out that the lady who lived here died here in the back bedroom

I think it boils down to, if you believe in ghosts, spirits, demons, angels, fairies, Jesus and god, then so be it.
Everyone is entitled to believe in what they want, especially if it gives them some kind of comfort, their views should be respected.

People are also permitted to think that ghosts, spirits, Jesus, god and the like are just figments of peoples imagination., and their views should also be respected.

Treat each other with respect even if you do not agree.

Apart from a couple of members I do not think anyone here has rubbished the others views whether for or aginst.

I have now become interested in whether there is a link from Celtic/Gaelic genes in having unexplained experiences!

It's a pity that personal abuse ever comes into discussions like this ( and I'm refering to comments on the blog) because it automatically weakens the argument of those who have genuine experiences which are as yet unexplained and on which they have an open mind.

Sceptics are needed lol, if you can't get a rational explanation for something from THEM, then you 'may' just be onto something lol.

I don't think there are any Celtic or Gaelic genes in my family

Dad and brother did used to believe that there was a link with the northern part of Ireland ........... but I haven't found it yet, and the family has been taken back to ca 1720

although that guy was dropped from the alien spaceship, appearing only on his marriage in 1740

........ so I guess there could be way, way back



Anyway, it was Mum who used to see things




I believe it can run in families



My daughter used to have an imaginary friend, sometimes the friend would come in the car with us, or eat at the table, but was usually in J's bedroom or where she was playing in the house.

J stopped talking about her when she was about 7 or 8


I have never asked if she actually saw someone or whether it was all imaginary in her mind.

My son had a clown - so it never crossed my mind that he had 'the sight'. Mind you he was a darned nuisance (the clown), had to avoid sitting on him when I sat down, he liked to sit at the table and have cutlery - thank god he never asked for a dinner. Started when he was about 3 and stayed for about a year.

Were the Celts from Rome or Greece and invaded the British ie; Ireland and Scotland?

I believe the Gaels originated in France. The Celts were Irish and the Scots too, but then there are the Welsh!

I googled - says Scots,Wales, Ireland, Cornwall, Cumbria and Brittany are basically Celtic in character but originated in central Europe some 4,000 years ago. Then I googled gaels - says these are speakers of Irish, Scots gaelic and Manx.

I could have sworn I learned in school about gaels coming from France!
