Don't get confused between my personality & my attitude.
My personality is who I am,my attitude depends on who you are.

I do like that prose very much Spanish Eyes.

I found this in a book I'm reading about the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn and would like to share it with you.

Defiled is my name fiullsore
Through cruel spite and false report,
That I may say for evermore,
Farewell to joy, adieu comfort.
For wrongfully you judge of me
Unto my fame a mortal wound,
Say what ye list, it may not be,
Ye seek for thats shall not be found.

I think Anne was almost certainly innocent of the crimes of which she was accused, and that Henry just became fed up with her., What had once entranced him now bored and angered him, mind you she did have a very sharp tongue, and that alone can be quite trying!!! This is just my opinion!

"You are lower than a snake's belly".

(A put-down I heard on the radio recently & therefore not applicable to anyone on this thread! Ok?)

Love that put down Dermot !

what about this from Pam Ayres

My baby's eyes are bluer than yours,
He's got more hair and he's stronger
He's ever so bright,
He sleeps through the night
And of our two I'd say mine is longer.
I swear its the truth,
Mines cutting a tooth
And he's obviously going to be tall,
No, its hard to explain,
Now I;ve looked at your Wayne,
Why did you bother at all !!

The ladies out there will recognise this sort of show off mum !!

Two short ones , the first by William Walton. The second for clever people like wot you is.

A MOTHERS LAMENT

There were very few casualties, they said,
Our losses, they said, were small;
In taking a vital strategic position.
What's fifty after all?

One was my son, my only son -
All that I had at all'
And I must go on alone, alone,
But our losses they said, were small.

FEATHERED FEDERATION

A member of the feathered federation,
A prisoner by your palm and digits made;
Is worth at least a couple of its brethren,
Who in leafy arbour seek the shade.

...............
Happy days

From Pam Ayres for all of us who never know whether to kiss or not when meeting people !

I want to ask a favour of the friends that I might meet,
to all of my aquaintances that pass me in the street.
Give me a cheery wave and Hello how are you, bye o long
But don't kiss me please don't kiss me for I always get it wrong !
I do not want to do it, I would rather pass you by,
I miss you get a smacker on the ear or in the eye.
I' standing on the pavement thinking Blast, Damnation, Heck !
he went the other way and I kissed him on the neck
I found it so embarrassing, it makes my knuckles clench,
Its a very dodgy habit, we've imported from the French.
What's wrong with Oh Good Morning, or a handshake if you must.
A lovely smile of welcome, or, all right, smile of lust !!

But I do not want to kiss you ! I am sure you are really nice,
But I find it so confusing, is it once , or is it twice ?
I'm filled with apprehension, and a feeling close to fright,
Who leans forward first ? Is it to the left cheek first or the right
And I feel a strange awareness, as we stand around and speak,
there's a disconcerting trace of saliva on my cheek.
So don't kiss me, no, don't kiss me say Enchante Ciao, Good Health.
But I am telling you don't kiss me keep your choppers to yourself.

Oh don't kiss me, I implore you, for I cannot stand the strain,
I seldom kiss my husband, and you don't hear him complain.
So Au Revoir, Auf Weidersehn, Just tell me that you'll miss me,
But please, if we should meet again, don't pucker up ! DON'T KISS ME !!

i am sure we can all relate to this by Pam Ayres

DUMP IT

Have you in your cupboards dusty medicines, grown old and fusty
kept for some forgotten pain, in case it should come back again
Or tablets very kindly lent, by whathisname whereever he went, which cured his sinus like a charm, but never touched your broken arm

Take the packages, so neat, the courses you did not complete, any job that's now been jobbed, for anything that ached of throbbed.
Soothing jars of ancient unctions, meant for bits that have ceased to function.
Any joint that loudly creaked, or any part of you that leaked.
Oh dump it,dump it all, far away from fingers small and older folk who get confused. Take any drug thats partly used.
any ointment , pills or potion, linctus, liniment or lotion
Put resolutely in your fists and dump it on your pharmacist.
For drugs and poisons it is true, are safer with him than with you !!

Just a quick two that I was told recently

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me !!

We all get heavier as we get older, because there is a lot more info in our head. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Hello Every one,

Jealousy costs nothing.

Dermot

Dermot Report 18 Jun 2012 13:59

The Americans are a funny lot; they drink whiskey to keep them warm; then they put some ice in it to keep it cool; they put some sugar in it to make it sweet; and then they put a slice of lemon in it to make it sour.

Then they say "here's to you" and drink it themselves.
