DET, yes I am coming up to that stage with the fresh fruit. I have to have a nanna and blue berries every morning for medical purposes, and just used the last.
May have to send out the OH for fresh supples, that is if they have had any deliveries in T***co up the street. LOLOL

Poole. I was up at 3 am this morning taking pictures in case it had gone by the time I got up and it is still there. So have had to uncover the bird feeders and put more where the ground feeders can get to it.I also feed Hedgehogs, and they have left their tracks over the snow where they have found their food and dug for it.
As long as they can feed at night it is OK. BUT if you should see any out during the daytime please take them to either a Vet. or local Tiggywinkles.or they will not survive the winter.
Good excuse to curl up and do nothing.

here in Brittany we have about 30 cms of snow with the meteo saying that there will be more today and tomorrow and so on.
surrounded by fields and at the end of a long private road through the fields so no chance of anything but a tractor getting anywhere near here so sit tight and have enough food to feed the nation although a bit worried about the wine stocks though...
many time in the summer we had temperatures off the top of the thermometer and we had temps of nearly 80 degrees only a month ago.
Lupins are out as are the delphiniums, again, the roses are flattened by the snow and the geraniums are looking a bit sick. but with metre thick walls we are OK.
a la prochain.

We have been warned to avoid, if possible, using the M1 motorway through the county because of the conditions. Also, the bin men are saying the rubbish is freezing in the bins, because they cannot get to them..No post or milk deliveries here since Monday, and it is getting worse snow-wise.

Gwyn in Kent

Gwyn in Kent Report 2 Dec 2010 20:10

Heavy snow overnight last night. It was coming down horizontally for much of the time, so steps and pavements have been 'levelled' with the surrounding area.
Walked into town for a funeral then attempted to shop. No bread in sight. Found some fresh milk which I carried home for elderly neigbours.
Very little fruit and veg in some shops and not much chance of harvesting local crops.... They'll have to find them first.!

Nice cheery greetings from fellow walkers, so there is one positive from this grim weather.
Buses running at times on coastal main road, but not able to negotiate hills or housing estates.
It stopped snowing here about 1 hour ago. Has been falling, sometimes lightly I admit, since yesterday evening.
