Hello to all

My home made remedy for colds: honey, lemon juice and a tot of whisky mixed in a glass of hot water. Very soothing for sore throats.

Hazel, it sounds as though the twins have made excellent progress. It should be a good Christmas all round.

My daughter and her partner are coming here for breakfast on Christmas day. We usually have bacon sandwiches. They will then go on to the partner's parents, who live fairly close to us, for lunch.

My son will also be here and will stay for lunch and possibly dinner. He has to work on Boxing day.

The Company he works for gave all their employees a voucher for $1000.00 to be spent at a local store, plus a leg of ham each. Mind you the company, which has operations in Australia and Spain does rake in billions each year. The most I ever got when I was working was a bottle of wine

:-S

Hello all

Today (23rd) is the anniversary of my parents' wedding. They married in 1939 and in February the following year my father enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.

Yesterday, the North of the State (the Pilbara area) had temperatures of 49.8c, the hottest ever recorded there. Coupled with all the seasonal rain in the area it would have been most, as well as moist, unpleasant.

All our shopping now done and as I was able to get out early no crowds in the shops.

Barbra, our big lotto draw is on New Year's Eve, $31 million. I fall for it every time as I will buy a ticket, together with everyone else in Australia. I should buy tickets for the other games where only the regulars enter. Probably stand more chance of winning :-S

Take care

Morning all.

I think i have all I need now. Went to t**c* yesterday. I'm now wondering if I have enough of this that and the other lol.
I dread to think what the shops will be like today and tomorrow.
We are to have a mild weather this xmas so we dont need to go through what we went through last year thank goodness.

I think I will nip out and get a few things.

If i dont get back on again,I hope you all have a great time.

Marion

Christmas Shocking: a poem by Paul Curtis

Well worn festive tunes
Blare out
Hapless faces
Stare out
Faces strained
Bemused, Confused
Lists gripped tight
Pens ticking or deleting
Then onward
Loaded trolleys
Wildly steering
Zig zagging
Aisle to aisle
Every item
Must be had
Gin for her
Beer for dad
Chocs and cakes
Chops and steaks

Turkey, stuffing
Nuts and fruit
Frozen this
Prepacked that
Pop and juice
Something’s loose
Everything ticked
On the tight gripped list
Nothing missed
Merry Christmas wished
Hundreds of pounds
Of Christmas bought
The festivities can begin
Relax in the knowledge
The shops will only be shut
For twenty four hours
:-)
