I personally think they should not be talking about banning the burka. It should be banning the covering of the face in banks, post offices, security at airports, in fact anywhere that the face is required to identify somebody. Banning the burka makes it anti their religion, banning face coverings would be to comply with security and identity.

Rose, wasn't there a jewellers that was bburgled by a man wearing a burks, because they thought it was a woman they released the door lock.

The point thats being made is that when the whole face is obscured, there is no telling who is behind the mask. Known suspects can be identified by cctv - that includes potential terrorists who are being observed before action is taken.

I agree you dont get many women in burkas blowing themselves up over here,

BUT it could be a grand disguise for someone who is intent on causing mayham, I mean a bloke could easily get away with posing as a woman having covered himself up 99% including his face.

If the many innocent hoodie wearing youths are forced to take of their hoodys , and bikers forced to take off their helmets in some public places.

Then the same rule should apply to everyone regardless for colour race or religion.

I think these sort of bans are born of fear and ignorance as much as anything. Wouldn't it be better to understand WHY some women want to wear them - as long as the wearer is willing to reveal her face to ascertain identity, where relevant, I don't see a problem with them.

Joy - surely, by banning them you ARE treating some differently to others.

point taken rose ,but for me i feel its wrong to treat some different to others ,it can breed hatred .
this is england and we should all tow the line with regards to rules .not change them for others who choose to live here.

As long as you don,t conceal your face no problem, but if you have to take off crash hats in shops and hoods, why should anyone be different.? its not as if its a requirement in religeon.to me its a try on,yet again,**M**.

Banning the wearing of burkas in public would be "rather un-British", the Immigration Minister said as he attacked efforts to make it illegal in this country.

Damian Green said it would be "undesirable" for Parliament to try to pass such a law which would be at odds with the UK's "tolerant and mutually respectful society"

WHAT DO YOU THINK.
