The way I see it is that he was given far more options to get out of this alive by the police than his poor victims were given by him..The fact is that he chose to play a waiting game for six hours refusing to surrender his LOADED weapon. His choice...his risk. Can't say I'll shed any tears about HIS poor deal when you remember that he's seriously injured two people and MURDERED one. Bet they wish they got the choice of life or death like he did. |

The trained police negotiators had the patience of saints with him I think, they brought him food water his friend for a positive outcome, I like many others think it was his intension to go out in a blaze of glory ( for the silly folks that will now hero worship him) he was never going to go peacefully. |

StrayKitten - just before you switch off can I go back to your very first entry on this thread? Newcastle isn't a small town, it's quite a big city! |

For the record, my point wasn't to denigrate the police - just to point out that there are no winners here - only victims |

There are winners - the citizens of Rothbury and all other peaceful people in the UK. A maniac is dead and we can all live in peace. I for one breathed a sigh of relief when he shot himself. Best thing he ever did in his miserable, control-freaking egotistical self-centred life. The only people worried about how the end came are Moat's relatives and they are only doing that because they can see mega bugs in the form of payment from the gutter press and "compensation" from the police. Lets hope the enquiry puts a full stop to all of these heart-wrenching, handwringing regrets because a waste of space is dead. |

I watch much of the courage till about an hour before he shot himself, and the angles the reporters took was laughable.... |
