The first time cancer affected my immediate family was the end of last year, i would say that i wasn't that close with my step dad and mum, we clashed from a early age and i felt i had no support from them when i needed it most, the attitude was" you have made your bed now lie in it ". |

Do you think there is a more chance of family members to have cancer affect them, my Dad is his biological sons carer he has had cancer and his brother died earlier this year and his father they both had terminal, sadly the one brother because he was bleeding from the back passage and never had it checked, thats very sad as they said had he been caught earlier he stood a excellent chance. |

On 18th December my dad was told he had 4-6 months to live with lung cancer. Obviously it hit us all hard and put a real dampener on Christmas. I had to cope because of my little boy. |

Dianna it's horrible when they just give up, maybe you can bring back some of our dads memories in the little things you must have kept or allowed him to keep when he moved out of his home. Your dad was lucky moving into family as most homes don't allow them anything. |

Hi to all of you, its good to talk, Wend I agree that some cancers can be caused by stress. We have 4 children, now all in their 20s. Two of them have fought for their lives, one with heart problems, doing well now. but nearly lost him as a baby, and one of our daughters who has aperts syndrome and autism. She has had so many ops we have lost count, when she was a baby she used to stop breathing numerous times a day. I was in a terrible state, not eating, hardly sleeping, hair falling out, aggraphobic, panic attacks. I often wonder if it contributed to my cancers. But I would go through it all again just to have my family. also wonder about chemicals in foods etc. |

Sylvia I wouldn't know about that but I really hope that I didn't contribute to my parents stress, believe me I caused them loads. |

Hi Brenda, what a story. as for the radium needles, they sound horrendous. You have done well and I believe being able to keep busy with work or whatever helps those that are able to. I really focused on getting back to work the first time I had cancer, I wanted to get back to normality. I am sure you have given hope to a lot of people have a lovely birthday x |
