Bob I am not certain but it may be the synopsis for the whole series. As it is on pay TV it might be exactly the same episode or an episode part way through the series if it is programmed over here, ie in OZ at a different stage to the UK

A/S

I presume that that was an Alternative ending( for the US ?) they likely would'nt have a Vicky park in Chicago,(or wherever..... I dont suppose,)
and encapsulating bodies in concrete, is more the American way...

I watched it again and still managed to see things I missed last night....so if you have only watched it once watch it again...

Well, you would not read about it. Well, not unless you subscribed to GR!! Look what I found while channel hopping last night.

"What looks like a simple drugs drop at a building site turns into a murder case when CID finds a body buried in concrete. All the while Alex is waiting, convinced that she is recovering in hospital and will wake up soon."

Ashes to Ashes 11.07 pm last night UKTV.

Yes I did try to watch however the toothpicks holding the eyelids open weren't strong enough.

What I did see was a lady and a policeman talking. Another bloke comes in and shoots the policeman in the head. The lady drags the policeman over to a hole in the floor and rolls his body into wet cement. Plop!!

After that zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Dear Old Dixon did indeed have the last word, and maybe that should be ours on this subject.

EVENING ALL.

I thought the last bit, after the credits had run, when Jack Warner in Dixon of Dock Green, said the last few words was very good and amusing.

well Ladies, I think we ALL deserve a pat on the back.

We all guessed something that was right, something that was nearly right, and something that was just barking mad.

We were all fooled with the connection with Over The Rainbow.

We all loved Gene and Sam.

We are all totally loved up with it all.

We are all sad for its passing.

We will now have to find some other subject to talk about.

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 22 May 2010 09:59

Keats was a hell hound he was barking mad...lol

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 22 May 2010 09:57

he burst in to a house burglery alone and was shot and buried ....his first week on the job

Cooper

Cooper Report 22 May 2010 08:23

Well ladies and Gents, ive just watched it this am.

The most pprefect ending with all the strings tied up and I think we all guessed most of it between us.

Now what? re runs, box sets or maybe start delving back in to our oun Ancestors.

Pub or pictures now on a Friday night. Not as much fun but there it is.

I thought the saddest part was Rays video and I think Gene was so kind to him, Ray and Shaz and Bolly at the end.

Gene let them solve the diamond crime and they could finish their policing jobs with dignity and self respect before they passed over to the other side. The same thing happened to Sam when he went back to the railway raid in 1973 and killed the gunman and then Gene helped him to the Pub.

Im off now to find a" hat to eat" because I was barking up the wrong tree with the David Bowie connection!!!!! lol.

Heroes had to be played at the end.

Would like to have known how all the other police officers got there, like Annie, how did she meet her end?

Did any of the crimes happen then? Did Gene rescue the young Alex???

Still loved the outcome tho, never going to complain about that!! The only time I was close to tears was when Gene watched Alex digging up his grave. How did he meet his end? I had a chattering 8 year old and a giggling 16 month old, so didn't hear it!!

Beverley Report 22 May 2010 08:08

Yes, Helen, of course I 'knew' but there's knowing and there's knowing if you know what I mean lol

Gene and Alex couldn't get it together really. I mean, nobody is really good enough for Gene (God) so it wasn't a total surprise.

Does this also mean Sam Tyler was Jesus? He was 'resurrected' so to speak (following excellent leap of roof).

Chris and Shaz were Adam and Eve?

Helen1959

Helen1959 Report 22 May 2010 08:03

Beverley,
yes you did hear Chariots of Fire being played, and you mean to say that you didn't realise that our Gene was God? We've known that since Life on Mars. Lol
I was abit dismayed that Alex and Gene didn't get it together. In my eyes that would of been the perfect ending. But hey ho somewhere out there Gene lives to fight another day.

Beverley

Beverley Report 22 May 2010 07:44

So, having slept on it all have now discovered the following:-

Keats was the Devil
The way to hell is via an elevator
The pub was heaven (don't we know that?)
The pearly gates is actually called The Railway Tavern
Nelson was Peter (never imagined Peter with dreadlocks by why not?)
The Quatro was a Chariot of Fire (did I hear that music? I'm sure I did)
and [speaks reverently so as not to upset anyone]
Gene was God

Wow

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 22 May 2010 07:40

I think that Keats should have been called Byron.

Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know.

He was barmy, the scene in the office where he kicked the furniture around was a bit disturbing.

Noticed that Gene was particularly snake-eyed last night.
Touch of the Clint Eastwoods.
