Well, if obnoxous right-wing homophobic racist wackos are one's cup of tea, I guess one would be in the right place with them. Why not just vote BNP, really?

http://www.voteenglish.org/what-we-stand-for/

http://deandem.wordpress.com/tag/medway-english-democrats/

(I like the bit there about how the party takes no stand on "contentious" issues like abortion - after mouthing its support for individual freedom blah blah blah. It would allow free votes by its MPs. Anybody wanna guess how they'd be voting? They oppose same-sex marriage and they're all about "Christian heritage", so let's place our bets.)

Lee Report 24 Apr 2010 06:21

Well i must say they put up some very good points, we need to engage some sort of points system before immigrants are allowed into this country like Canada has and it seems to work for them.
Immigrants at the very least need to speak English before they are allowed in.
Yes i will consider voting for The English Democrats.

skwirrel Report 24 Apr 2010 08:08

Janey....where does it say the Eng-dems are homophobic or racists? I have read their manifesto and cannot find any such revelations.

Gill, I did link to it.

The Family
It is often overlooked that the family is a fundamental building block in the structure of the English society. Marriage also plays a key role in the family, representing a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman and from this union children are raised in the security of a loving home. We will stand up for both the family and marriage, rejecting secular attempts to place same sex partners into the context of either.

I think that kinda does it.

Appealing to people's cultural identity in order to deny basic rights to other people is vile. Culture and history enrich the lives of individuals and societies. They aren't weapons to use against other people.

English culture and history include Magna Carta and many other examples of people working to expand the rights they enjoy. They are building blocks of English society. Tolerance and social justice are building blocks of English society. England has a long history of social justice movements - the 19th century was full of people working against slavery, working for child protection, fighting for women's rights, etc.

English Democrats haven't got much to say about all that, have they?

Hell, slavery was a building block of the empire. Why not demand a return to that?

MrDaff Report 24 Apr 2010 15:53

I wouldn't vote for them, simply because of their title.... says it all for me.

ENGLISH Democrats at a British election? Nope... and I wouldn't vote for Plaid, either, before anyone comments. As a none Welsh speaking Welsh woman, I am marginalised and discriminated against in my own country already.... but let Plaid get a stronger foot, and heaven preserve us!!

These elections are about Britain as a whole... not about one little area.

So I shall stick to one of the Big Three!

Love

I had not heard of them before they lifted my windscreen wiper and put one of their fliers under it. That annoys me so they didn't win a vote there. No I wouldn't vote for them, don't agree with some of their ideas.
