I know who you are LMJ, and I don't think there are any baying hounds honestly ,

but it doesn't signify that having one account number doesn't make for a WUM..we have a WUM with one account number who changes her name on a daily basis ... unless we all keep each others numbers it makes it very hard to know,

I DO like to know who I am talking to and for very good reason nowadays!

Susan10146857 Report 18 Jan 2010 23:59

Don't take it too much to heart LMJ. I saw your change of name posting, but I expect many others didn't. I also didn't take Uggers posting as being anything other than Uggers posting what he has to say. ( or Suemaid)....sometimes grumpily but also with a lot of sense.

Lets not make too much out of it...take a deep breath and get on with posting.......Uggers is luverly ( most of the time lol ) and I am sure you are too.....We are all wonderful ( so my guru tells me )...so there you are! lol

EDIT:_....sorry Suemaid....didn't mean that you were grumpy Lol....where is that spade....this hole is getting deeper.

Uggers Report 19 Jan 2010 07:00

Little Miss January, I don't think I've anywhere accused you of being a wum. I don't know if you are or not and it's only a silly expression anyway. But I did feel uncomfortable with you having past knowledge of me without me having the same of you, which is why you're able to criticise my past behaviour on the board and I'm not able to return the courtesy. It doesn't matter who can vouch for you, whether it's Mrs Grumpy or Lynda or my grandmother or the Pope - I don't know who you are.

But what made me livid last night was everyone else's reactions, excepting those who understood my point - the normal reaction when other people are mistrusted or suspected of being *someone from the past* or who have made people uncomfortable by concealing their past identity is mass hysteria and a great load of screaming threads about it.
So perhaps it is about who says what and not what they say.

Angie2017

Angie2017 Report 19 Jan 2010 08:29

Mass Hysteria is about right, surely if members were judged by what they post instead of their board name life would be alot easier.

How can members welcome new members so readily (which they do) then complain because they see a new name (with a perfectly decent post) on a thread is beyond me.

For future reference, could people please not ask me who numbers belong to...if you want to talk to someone do so, if you don't , don't.

I have had enough of being dragged into other people's silly games... changing a name gives no more privacy or disguise than sticking mickey mouse ears on

X willstill be X and ' know where I live'
Y will still be Y and be a wum
Z will still be Z and be lovely

I just won't be speaking to them in anything other than formal terms unless I know who they are and which of those 3 categories they fit!

Going out >>>>>>>>

and PS I will still be welcoming to newbies as I think I always have been , until I find out having tried to find relatives for them , that they are in fact a known member of the board playing silly sods.

TeresaW Report 19 Jan 2010 10:36

Furore?

I think there is quite a bit of over-reaction to a simple comment here.

Uggers made a good point, and a fair point. I often feel the same when a name I haven't seen seems to know so much, and it is often the case that it IS someone who is out to cause a stir. But there was no such accusation toward LMJ, that I could see.

Surely LMJ can also see why people are wary? It's not that difficult when you see the history of these boards, and LMJ's membership number tells me she has been around long enough to know just what I'm talking about.

So I still fail to see why people are flouncing off in a huff when all that's happened is that someone questioned the ID of one member so they knew who they were talking to?

Calm down everyone and please stop making something out of nothing. I will continue to be wary of older membership numbers with new names if I don't know who they are, or if I have been too wrapped up in other things to have seen any announcements about name changes. The reason being that there are some very spiteful people with whom I want nothing to do with, and don't wish to be duped into putting myself in a position where they can abuse my trust again. I've no doubt others who have been caught out will continue to do so too. It's not too much to ask for a little bit of understanding is it? It works both ways.

Good Morning Little Miss January.... I always know exactly who you are, straight away... your style is inimitable, and I lurves you loads, so don't you dare go flouncing off (practicing is fine, I love to see you practice)

This lady, folks, is a genuinely lovely lady.... one of the first to welcome me to the boards, and one that many of you know, respect and love in her *real clothes* rather than her *dressing up* clothes.

The WUMS... they change, they can't keep up *lovely* for long... but LMJ is always exactly the same... witty, funny, clever, articulate, ascerbic when required (only slightly, I hasten to add). And genuinely very caring.

Love

Look all I did was make a simple joke. It wasn't me who pointed the finger, created angst or in fact did anything wrong. Why it has developed into this fuss I don't know but it's so silly. I've LOST my will to live and I've LOST my patience and I've LOST my sense of humour. How's that for a list.

I think I might delete this thread before very much longer ... which is not something I tend to do at all!

I am sorry if a thread of mine has caused angst among board members. It was supposed to be a laugh.

I'm off down the garden to eat worms now ...

But nobody pointed fingers, that's the point I'm trying to make. Everyone seems to be up in arms about something that never happened.

Oh well, got any ketchup for them worms Jill????

ButtercupFields

ButtercupFields Report 19 Jan 2010 12:54

I think it would be a pity to delete it Mrs G and everyone will know that it is never your intention to cause angst on here, quite the reverse. I think this thread is a prime example of misunderstandings which can occur on a website like this, where perhaps a lighter touch would have sufficed if someone was suspected of being someone they were not. It might have stopped any unpleasantness.

Oh dear what a shame hun I am sure it wasn't your intention to cause angst as BC said unfortunately things get turned round but that doesn't mean you should delete the thread

Uggers

Uggers Report 19 Jan 2010 13:01

Thanks Teresa. I didn't think anyone had pointed any fingers at anyone either. All I thought I did was express discomfort that someone posting in a name I didn't recognise had prior knowledge of me and irritation that people didn't seem to understand why I felt discomfort.

I wasn't accusing anyone of being anyone else or questioning their credentials as a wonderful person and I certainly haven't been baying for anyone's blood. I think it would be a good idea if people want to reinvent themselves they don't refer to things to the past.

I'd like to apologise if I've caused any offence or upset but I can't cos I don't feel sorry and don't think I've done anything wrong.
