Evening Ladies.
Sylvia, like you we will be spending New Year on our own we always do. Kids are all coming over for tea on New Years Day. No fireworks so far, but will be plenty tomorrow!!

Just got back from babysitting my youngest granddaughter, time flies as she is now 9 months old, crawling and pulling herself up on the furniture, they are not babies for long.

Happy New Year to you all.

Good idea not to venture out on icy paths Sylvia, and noice to have a few momwnts to yourself while Johan does the shopping. We too are on our own New Years Eve which we quite enjoy really, then at midnight we go outside and welcome in the New Year with our neighbours. We are only in a small cul de sac but nobody else stirs only us. They will probably let off a couple of rockets as well.

No firworks here so far but will probably be plenty tomorrow evening.

Happy New year to you Sylvia and to all our little group of card makers.

Hi all,
Well I've been home the last days because of the ice on the roads. I won't dare go out on my scooter so Johan is getting the shopping. My neighbour wants to do some shopping for me but Johan is just as good. It gets him out of the house for a while too.
The fireworks have been going off since Xmas Day. You ought to see what these fireworks cost and just to let them off all week must cost somebody a fortune.
If the police catch them they will get into trouble, as they should only let the fireworks off New Year's Eve.
I feel sorry for the dogs and cats. I once saw my dog go into a fit through a bang from a firework. So sad.
Johan and I will watch television tomorrow and we'll be on our own. The children will come on New Year's Day where we will all eat olie balls (doughnuts) and apple beignets. Once again fattening foods, and then over a few days my birthday. Oh heavens how much should I weigh?
Have a nice evening tomorrow.
Sylvia - HAPPY NEW YEAR

Sylvia sounds like you had a lovely family Christmas. Like you I have been feeding the birds all over Christmas and have had lots of different birds in the garden, but wish the buzzard would stop sitting in the tree at the bottom of the garden!!

Well all our visitors have now gone home, have cooking to do for a party we have been invited to tomorrow, the invite from hubby's niece, came with could I please make some of my finger foods, even went as far as to say which ones she wanted making!! Still I enjoy cooking so happy to do so off now to buy the bits I need.

Thank you all so much for the beautiful Christmas cards I received, will send out thank yous to you all next week.

Weather here awful today, rain all night and thick fog this morning, bring back the frost and the sunshine!!

Take care all of you

Hugs Joxx

Hi all,
Well Xmas is over and now we have the New Year to get through. I can only come up for air after my birthday.
Today I had my help in the house and she did lots of ironing for me.
We are supposed to get more snow again tomorrow. I wonder whether it will go on until April like last year. Our children gave us lots of different things for feeding the birds so they won't go hungry!
Now will do something else and say til tomorrow.

Hi all,
I've been trying to get on to this thread for a while, but to no avail. Now 11.30 pm on Boxing Day I've managed it.
Just come home from Eindhoven. Our granddaughter drove us there and back and we had a very enjoyable day, not only presents but having my children and grandchildren together was nice.
Our flat looks as though there has been an earthquake through it as I have just left everything for a few days.
My help should come tomorrow and will sort out things for me.
See you tomorrow - If I can find the thread again!

To all my Friends

The gifts I'd leave beneath your tree,
Aren't those that you can touch or see,
Not wrapped in Christmas tissue gay
But gifts to bless you every day.
The gift of friendship warm and true,
Is one that I would leave for you
Good health, happiness and cheer
To keep you smiling through the year
The gift of peace that comes from God,
With prayer to guide each path you trod
And when your heart has lost it's song
The gift of hope to cheer you on.
These are the gifts I'd leave for you

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and
Health, Wealth Happiness throughout 2011

Jo, if you can't identify them ask on the bird thread. if you can identify them can you tell us what theyw ere on the bird thread? We are interested in the birds people are getting in their gardens.

Still getting sleety snow here, just been out, about a mile to the local shop. road slushy but not frozen and driveable with care. Still hoping to get to Hampshire before Christmas.

Morning everyone, hope you are not under too much snow!! We have only had a light sprinkling still, yet I know Maisie is completely snowed in her house at the moment, snow too deep to get out! The frosts have been so severe that everything is frozen, in fact a shop in the village that had lots of Christmas snow globes in, they all froze and cracked the glass. I am running short on logs and coal, will have to take a trip out to get some more.
Just off now to start all the parcel wrapping, need to check what batteries all the childrens toys need, think sometimes you end up spending as much on them as the original present!

Yes Ann it was swine flu, had the blood test results back, Leicester seems to be full of it at the moment.

Just trying to identify different birds I have in the garden at the moment, never seen them before so off to get the bird book.
Take care all of you and keep warm

Sounds as if you had a bad dose Jo was it ordinary or swine flu, seem to be 3 strains around this year. Not that it makes much difference when you are feeling rough.

Yes, I think i did thank you for your card a few posts back.

The dreaded flu, has really knocked me for six and am only just getting over it. Still feel very woozy and weak, but there is so much to do, have to try and catch up on my shopping, just a little behind.

Hope you are all keeping well and have received my Christmas cards, luckily I made and wrote them all some time ago, hubby just forgot to post them.

Need now to pack away all my crafting bits and pieces ready for Christmas, cannot see the dining room table, I feel so far behind this year, still do not have my Christmas tree put up in the house although the outdoor Christmas tree is up with lots of lights on it in the front garden, at least the drive looks Christmassy is nothing else does. Still all the cards have brightened up the house.

We had a power failure yesterday for 12 hours!!!!!!!!! 3 villages went off, most were back on after about 3 hours but not our road, we were last to get back on. Hope they have fixed it all properly so we don’t go off over Christmas.

Hope you are all keeping well and have everything ready for Christmas, not long to go now......

Take care

Love Joxx

Evening ladies, thanks for all your well wishes, they have worked and I am now almost back to normal today. Spent 3 days in bed unable to get up and do anything, since then have felt rough but each day has been a little better. At least it is over and done with before Christmas, just need hubby to come down with it now!
I will put up a list of the people I have received cards from in the next couple of days, but really do not like sitting too long on the computer as it makes my head spin.
Margaret lovely to see you posting again, hope you are keeping well.

Sylvia, one appointment down and one to go, hope it all goes well for you next week.

Bitter cold here again tonight looks like more snow on its way.
Take care everyone and keep warm.
