Hi all,
Oops, no, the bump didn't do me any pain Jo, and might I say I'm glad to be back amongst you.
Friday Johan and I spent most of the day at the hospital.
It seems that the lung specialist has found something now. On a photo taken for the cardiologist he can see a large ring of air round my stomach. It doesn't do me any pain but get quite breathless sometimes. I don't know whether they can cure this with tablets or an op.
Johan also has to have his varicose veins done as he now has a lot of bother with his legs. I'm glad I had my left leg done some years ago.
I saw the ENT specialist and he is going to fit anot her grommet in my ear. I think I have an infection in the ear at the moment so I will have to phone him to see if we can alter the date. The lung specialist is not happy with the mask I am using at night and I must contact the suppliers to arrange for a visit.
Christine, I have posted your Xmas card - the only one posted so far. I have received 3 cards, will tell you from whom later.
Very cold weather. The last two years we have had snow in November. In fact last year it went on until April! I wonder what is in store for us this year!
Looking forward to receiving your Xmas card and apologies to those who have not had a birthday card from me just lately.
Have a nice ening

Well the snow is not clearing and now it is frozen solid, temp was -6 this morning and is again below freezing already, still it is keeping any more snow away from us for the time being.

Sylvia please to see you back with us again. Pity that they have now found something else to worry about, still hopefully they will get you both sorted out soon.

Take care all of you and keep warm.

Hugs Joxx

Really cold today although bright and sunny. We are just back from having Sunday lunch out at a hotel in Ross on Wye. Very good but a 40 minute journey for us so we were hoping the roads were OK, which they were, just, a bit icy on the edges but most people were driving carefully. We met up with friends to exchange presents, a yearly ritual. Friend are 15 years younger than us but we get on really well with them.

Sylvia, good to see you on here again. Hope the specialist can find out what is causing the latest problem for you.

Afternoon Ladies, hope you are all keeping well and not too cold. We have some snow but nowhere as bad as some people!! Still able to get around most of the roads are clear. Just trying to finish my xmas cards not many to do but they seem to be taking for ever. BG's have been finished and written for weeks so really should get them in the post.

Keep warm

Hi Ladies, I have been staying at daughters looking after the three little ones as it was her birthday. Made lots of Christmas presents with them for their parents although only two for Daddy as could not think of anything else to make for a man!! We also made a lovely birthday cake as a surprise when she got back home.
Hope you are all nice and warm

Hallo all,
I cannot think this is the correct place to join the thread again, but here's having a go.
We have had quite a lot of snow here and today and tomorrow it is supposed to be thawing before we go in for the cold weather again. Johan and I have been setting our plans in for the days up to Xmas. Johan is going to get the necessary shopping tomorrow, including doctor's prescription, and the week before Xmas we'll have the groceries delivered. We can keep milk for at least a week as it is so fresh.
I have to have a coliscopy, that is a bowel inspection. It is two years since I had bowel cancer but I think a lot of my trouble comes from this area. I have to have this Thursday week, just before Xmas.
Have been setting myself some targets, such as all Xmas cards for abroad must be out tomorrow and the rest here in the Netherlands can wait til the last week - not yet finished anyway.
I hope those who didn't get a birthday card from me will forgive me but my mind hasn't been able to cope with everything lately. I did send a couple out with Xmas cards.
I'll post again soon, keep well, keep warm.

Sylvia, please to see you managed to find us after I posted a message. As there is only 3 of us posting it tends to slip down quite a way very quickly.
Hope the hospital visit goes well for you next week, now a pleasant test to have done just before Christmas but better to get it over and done with.
You sound like you have everything so well organised, I am just not organised this year, should be as I have so many coming for Christmas dinner no idea where everyone will sit.
Take care and keep warm, it is so cold here tonight and very foggy!!

Hallo, I am here again although it took me quite a while to find you. Never know what to type next to get in.
This morning I sat waiting for my help. She begins 9.30 and it was 10 before she arrived. When she came I said "good afternoon". She then told me how slippery it was outside and she skidded all over the road with the car. I felt awful. Some girls wouldn't have ventured out but she was here.
Her little girl phoned at lunchtime to say she wasn't going to school in the afternoon as she felt sick She phoned a couple of times after because she didn't like being alone, so I couldn't very well ask her mother to stay extra time.
This afternoon it wasn't so slippery so Johan went out and did some shopping.
Tomorrow the men are coming to look at my mask because Johan thinks it leaks somewhere as it has woken him up a couple of times.
I had some apples in the house so thought I would make an apple crumble. It is a question of scrounging through the cupboards to use up things.
I need somebody to go to the post for me to post a parcel and the rest of the overseas cards.
I'm sure that my cards won't arrive on time this year.
I had a lovely letter yesterday from an ex colleague of mine. He married in his late fifties a French schoolteacher, also of a good age. They produced two children, boy and girl. These are beautiful looking children and big for their age. My ex colleague writes music and edits texts. He writes the most beautiful letter, always with an amusing side.
Now better stop this letter now and see if I get time to write tomorrow.
Keep warm, Sylvia xxx

Jo I am sure you enjoyed making things with the children. One thing for a man, if you can get hold of a tin with a lid is to put a hole in it and put a ball of string in. Depends what he does though? A desk calendar if he works in an office with photos of his children on. A pencil holder. Or, if he has a greenhouse similar to a pencil holder for small tools like the little tools for pot planting, secateurs etc.

I have received several cards from birthday girls, do we thank as we go along or after Christmas when all have arrived that are going to?

I will say thank you Sylvia though as I am sure you want to know it arrived.

Jo Jo

Jo Jo Report 6 Dec 2010 22:12

Ann thanks for the suggestions, as he is office bound I think a calendar sounds great, but so does the tin for string as he is always in the garden. They can be next weekends task.

Not sure what we should do about the cards, as you say they have started to arrive. Some on FTF thank as they go along using names and some just say a blanket thanks for the cards etc. so not sure which is the best way round this.

Ann, Sylvia and Jill, thank you for the lovely cards I have received, Ann love how you have shaped it, good idea to use! Sylvia love the Christmas tree stitching, such a great idea, Jill also love how you have cut the card, such a simple idea that I would never have thought of but so effective.

Freezing fog today again and already -8 so looks like a cold night.
Keep warm.

Love Joxx

Good morning girls,

Thank you to Jill,Flo,Babs,Ann,Sylvia, Joan & Nadine for Christmas cards received, all so different and lovely xx
I have managed to send my overseas cards early, what with the weather holding things up I'm glad i posted them when I did.
Daughter works for a logistics firm and they are having to postpone collections and deliveries, especially in Scotland, until further notice, so a lot of presents won't reach destinations in time for christmas :(

Hope everyone manages to keep warm and safe

Love to you all

Heather xx

OK, no problem, as we go along then. I think it nice to name people personally as so much effort goes into all the cards. Jo, maybe you could copy across to FTF please.

Thank you for the lovely cards received, all so different and all lovely:
Maisie, Joan, Michelle, Sylvia, Jill Nadine and Flo.

Yes of course I will copy across for you Ann, will do the same for Heather. Sylvia is still having problems finding this thread, she can only find a closed thread. I will keep bumping it up whenever I am on line, although I feel like I am going down with flu, have a temperature and feel lousy so off to bed for now.
Take care everyone

Hi all,
Well no problem getting on the site this evening, because I now know what to do to get on. Why it has been changed for me I don't know.
I have posted a lot of Xmas cards, so most of you will have had one, but the last ones are going to get held up in our strike.
I think I might venture out tomorrow and go to our craft shop as I have not been there for ages. I have been using most of my Xmas things which I had over from last year.
I won't get any post until Saturday, such a pity as it is Xmastime.
My granddaughter phoned me today and she is going to get some Xmas presents for me. I was going to give everybody gift vouchers. Mind you, there was something in this for her. She wants to borrow our car from Friday until Sunday. We don't like doing this really as we like to be mobile ourselves, but....... we can't have it all our own way.
Have a nice evening and it is lovely to be back.

How annoying not to get any post for 3 days because of a strike Sylvia. Still you will get a pile when it does arrive.

I do hope you are OK Jo and that you have not as you suspected, developed flu. If you have I hope you will feel better soon.
