Usually I plod on regardless and just ignore those I am not too fond of. I have read some terrible things on here at times and think if they had been aimed at me, I would most defiantly have something to say. Personally I think the way forward is to ignore them and hopefully they will find some where else to play but I can understand why people react on times.
As for forgiving.......No I don't think I could do that if it were me.

Happy New Year to you all. xxx

Tried to put a curse on you with a drawing? OMG Sue, there really are some strange people about, or as my nan used to say, 'there's more out than in,'

Personally, I'm glad that the majority of us can put our differences behind us, accept each other's point of view of events, and at least be sociable with one another. It makes for a far better atmosphere on here. I'm not so sure the 'few' would appreciate that, in spite of all their efforts to spoil it. But there it is, hard luck to them.

We'll never all get on all of the time, simply because we are all different. But if the majority of us can respect the right of people to hold a different view to our own, then we'll all still be friends after a debate. It's those who see a difference as troublemaking that are the problem.

Interesting thread.

I am very pleased that I am now friendly with people who I didn't get on with before. I've not got into too many arguments over the last few months because I didn't like the "me" I could see I was becoming on this board. So when possible I'll ignore but I will never forgive the comments directed at people I care about. I won't name those people but we all know who they are. Between them they have set out to hurt, provoke, taunt and insult. But it didn't work because a large number of us became friends instead and supported each other. I well remember an attack on my Aussie thread when a certain person tried his hardest to spoil it. My friends supported me through that. When a certain person had a support thread for our lovely Jean removed we all pulled together and look what we achieved. I won't forgive a certain person on here who received a lot of support off Jean and hasn't even made mention of Jean since her illness and passing. That same person tried to frighten me by putting a "curse" on me with a drawing. I won't forgive that either.

However I will ignore and concentrate on the many friendships I have on here because there are more wonderful people on this board than the not so wonderful.

I agree with a lot of what Muffy said - I definitely didn't think one day that I was going to get matey with people that I didn't use to get on with, it's just that time passed and some people grew on me gradually and I quite like some of them now.

I certainly don't plan who I get on with and who I don't - I'm just very reactionary and act how I feel. And I wouldn't get friendly with someone cos of a mutual dislike of someone else - very unsound basis for a friendship as we've seen on here time and again.

There's still a lot of people who don't appeal to me and some I think are two faced hypocrites but that's all cool cos I ain't going to set up home with them. And there really are some very bizarre folk about here

i got so used to seeing my name on their blogs and on GR
and most of it was total rubbish so i stopped caring
and never gave it a second thought
and when people spotted things they knew were not true
it proved my point they were best ignored
they even published my facebook pages
but no matter
there's nothing on there of any importance
and as for my personal details
i have always been a very public person
so most people know all they want to know about me anyway

and if they dont they can always ask me

the only things that really got me was begrudging jean a sticky
i thought this mean and spiteful and really hurt
and the horrible things somebody did the candle site
to Jean and Sylvia that was sick
i hope they were proud of themselves NOT

Even in the past I think there was a unwritten code of conduct if you didnt like or gotton with someone thats fine but you dont EVER bring there personal lives or family on to the board and you sink as low to mention their children, never in my life have I been as horrifed as I was when I read what I have done on blogs, never was I more shock to see people being wished good luck with their blog when they had plastered someones personal information all over it and then never did I laugh as much when they expected me to ok with them...

But then I was threatened oooo about 4 times at least to be sued..for what? pmsl

TonyW Report 1 Jan 2010 17:55

Gosh! This debate is about as controversial as the ones about hanging!

I am quite prepared to ignore those who have no desire to be my 'friend' although, when they make choices not to ignore me I will reciprocate.

This year I have made some good friends, and one or two folks have chosen to turn their knives on me and friends but have only succeeded in showing them to be shallow and mindless. They will never take my dignity, and the fact they have none is apparent!

It has been an interesting year with blogs and flowers, Lynda and I waiting for the CIA to impound our PC's, Muffy and I having a torrid affair, plus many other events of note!!!

So, having rambled on for ten minutes, what I suppose I'm trying to say is it really matters not a jot what my intentions are. It's OK to say "don't feed the trolls" but they keep going untill they get a reaction. If you still don't bite they start on your nearest and dearest.....

So - leave me alone, then I'll leave you alone and you wont keep coming second!

Simples......

Julia Report 1 Jan 2010 17:31

Sylvia well said and I agree with you.
I have seen at least one person on here who deliberatly does not know how to behave herself on a public forum. Then when she is turned on as people cotton on to her antics, she says she is sorry and it won't happen again. But within a short space of time, she does it again. And on it goes. I would like to see GR put the end to multiple accounts and names, as it may help.

Speaking for myself I'm not sure there is an *answer*

There certainly wasn't a day when I woke up and thought *enough is enough* or anything like that. I just found myself firstly starting to agree with people I didn't get on with more and more often......then gradually chatting more and having a laugh with them....and then finally began to rethink my previous opinion of them But it was a process not an over night thing. It wasn't a conscious decision. Don't really know what everyone else thinks but that was the way it was for me.

I think it's as Mildred said really if you feel someone is treating you genuinely it isn't difficult to respond in the same way. BUT if you mistrust their motives you'll behave accordingly....xx
