HI all - hope you have had a good day, and its good that Pauline has been able to have a bit of time on the computer. Although I can't speak for other's, my thoughts are 'There but for the grace of God' etc. I don't know how I'd cope with a bored child who couldn't get outside. Even able bodied ones get under your feet!!

(if you ever need to let off steam, Pauline, PM one of us and we'll listen and make suitable cooing noises)

Love the visual description of the kitty's. Aunty should be be back tomorrow - wonder what she will make of it - lol!

YG Report 8 Jan 2010 18:06

Evening everyone!

Another horrendous morning trying to get in the car and arriving at work with feet like blocks of ice to match the car. I have never seen lumps of ice on the windows and wiper blades like I have seen this week.

A better day weather wise and I was just starting to realise that my car wasn't actually white but it has started all over again. The roads were beginning to get better on the main routes, although the side roads are still dreadful, but the snow is back with a vengeance. The main road outside the house is covered again and we have a forecast of up to 20cm overnight. Gritting has been reduced now too because of low stocks.

Isn't it great!!!!

Welcome home YG. We thought you had buried in a snow drift! The met office thinks we will have the cold until the end of next week, so perhaps its time you thought about working from home!

YG Report 8 Jan 2010 18:21

I haven't brought anything home with me and unfortunately I use Access for a lot of my work and it is not possible to bring it on a memory stick.

One of my line managers may be able to send me some work by e-mail that I can do on Word and Excel and I can get authorisation from our IT dept to use web based mail so that I can access my e-mails.

if 20cm falls I definitely won't be going. The young one that I work with is definitely 'milking' the weather and I am getting extremely annoyed!!!

Evening LG. I hope you haven't done your knees any more damage or hurt yourself elsewhere, because I, for one, know how much pain it can cause you!

Done all the left side. Swollen toe,ankle don't mention the knee !! elbow wrist and shoulder. I felt such a silly B****r. Had to shuffle over to a nearby fence to haul myself up. Just spent the afternoon resting up and feeling a lot better. I can laugh about it now I must have made a lovely snow angel LOL

YG Report 8 Jan 2010 20:01

RMS, what do employers do in Canada if you can't get into work because of adverse weather? Do they pay you, or do you have to take it as holidays?

YG

YG Report 8 Jan 2010 20:03

RockyMountainShy

RockyMountainShy Report 8 Jan 2010 22:06

depends on the employer, and if there is anyway to get to work ie walk, crawl, bus, train etc.

But mostly you have two choices you either take a sick day or a holiday.

Unless your "special", ie professional type

Good morning to everyone on this white, bright snow filled day!! We have had more overnight and no gritters so don't know whether I will be attempting to go shopping today.

How are you this morning LG? Feeling pretty sore I bet. I hope you are ok.

Mazfromnorf

Mazfromnorf Report 9 Jan 2010 09:44

morning YG i am back in holiday lazy mode we have had more snow too but it is warmer today ,not a day to travel

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 9 Jan 2010 10:39

Lazy? You Maz? Never! lol! You seemed to be telling us you were busy cleaning over the Christmas Break, so now you deserve a rest.

Hope you haven't stiffened up too much LG. And if your council is rationing grit, it might be best if you did try to shop YG....as long as you can do it safely.

We've had a tiddly amount overnight, but nothing to fuss about. More expected today, up to 15 cm although we will probably get less. They are fussing about wind chill at the moment.
