Spangles were discontinued in the early eighties, and briefly reintroduced in 1994, exclusively in Woolworths outlets in the UK. There are many nostalgic references to them from children who grew up with them. Spangles are associated with the 1970s and they, like Space Hoppers or the Raleigh Chopper, have become shorthand for lazy nostalgia for the time, as in the phrase "Do you remember Spangles?"[1][2] |

I can't wait Helen.Wouldn't be great if we could still buy some? My tummy has gone all funny now just thinking back to that time.I can still see untwirling the plastic wrapping from the top of the sticks .The inside of my cheeks have gone all tingly too at the memory lol...(mouth cheeks I may add) |

Oh Christina and Helen.You are the only 2 people who have ever known what I was on about with those twisty sticks with chocolate going through.I have had a good long think and yes the barley stick one was a bit different.I know I spent my thruppenny bit every saturday on those sticks.They lasted for ages |
