I am sorry to say that I have had very bad news today. My only grandughter has been severly burnt, she will be 12 in December. She is in a very famous and well repected hospital where she is undergoing surgery as I write this. It was a sheer accident, no injury to her face as I understand but she is severely burnt on her body and if she survives will have to undergo manny ops. What else can I say except please please pray for her. I may not write on her for the next few days but will look in. What other news will I get next???

Keep us informed, Bridget. I'm sure the others are like me. Once we know about something like this, it worries us if we don't know how things are going. Yes, we will all be saying one for you and your grand-daughter. God bless.

The sun is shining, Jet and Joe are being very good today.Yesterday somehow I managed to have 16 people here for our friends 60th birthday and the last gust left at 10.30pm!! Maybe it did me good to have to concentrat on othre things. Tried call my daughter several times but no reply, called the ward twice today, no reply. I understand that they must be very very busy, but the not knowing is getting difficult....
Very hot and sunny today, the Birtday boy of (60) is coming back with his wife, daughter, son and wife to help eat the remains of the Party. Keeping busy is helping at times.
Well that is about all for now, so will signe off for themoment
Enjoy your day

It is a lovely day here to-day. Hope your granddaughter is feeling more comfortable to-day Bridget.
Went for a Bone Density Scan this morning, will see my doctor some time to discuss it. Last time I had one which was about 5 years ago it seemed to take forever, but to-day I was in and out in 15 minutes.
We are really enjoying having the budgie, it always sounds so cheerful and I think we will miss him when he goes home. While I was hanging up washing the other way I heard what sounded like a cuckoo calling, I didn't actually see the bird unfortunately.
Nothing more for now.

Hello Ann
well it looks as if we are the onlu two who are around at the moment..I expect that some people are on holiday, others are busy and some are just taking time out. It is always the same in the Summer. My news today is that my grandaughter is improving so I am now not nearly so worried.both her Mum and her are very strong characters,
It is unbelievely hot today, the temp on my verandah is 45c abur at least today we have a very slight breeze otherwise it would be feeling even hotter. We are living on salads and bits and pieces as and when we want them.
OH did go to road level, you may recall that our roof is at road level, and he sorted out the parking area. It is infacte very large with 3/4 covered above and with sliding doors right across. During the last couple of years it has become a bit untidy too say the least. For example, the part which is the furthest away from the house is covered in cobbles and at the side there is the boundary between us and the house next door. The evergreens have grown very well so they were trimed and shaped and then all the spare tiles, and the trailer were moved there. We do not use the trailer very often. the rest of the area was brushed and washed, and all the wood for the winter was asl put on the gravel and covered over. Then our car was moved to the newly swept area and this is where we shall park in future. the reason for this is that the gradient here allows as to park our car much easier. Then the Bougenvillia was cut right back as far as possible and the rubish removed. Now we have a clean looking parking area with plenty of room for another car, the area we had been using, and it now really shows just how wide our peice of land is. All locked up and safely away, I think OH did very well. He said it was cooler doing all that than walking into the garden....and he is right.
When i was a child we used to have budgies as pets and when my children were old enogh the also had some...they are delightful birds.... Well time for a drink now, I am not cooking tonight as we have been with friends, the men watched football and we ladies chatted... we had some fresh bread, a variety of salads etc and nibbled through most of it, a couple of glasses of wine went down well. OH now fast asleep with the Cricket watching India play except HE IS ASLLEEP!
Bye, bye for now, I will be back tommorrow
Bridget in Spain where it is soooooo Hot!!

Yesterday, my daughter and grand-daughter came and 'did' my house for me. I can do it all myself, but in small doses. When you live alone, the house doesn't need the same attention that it does if you have others living there.
Daughter did the kitchen and floors - mopping and vaccuum cleaning - whilst her daughter did the bathroom. I wasn't allowed to give gr/dtr any money because she 'working off' her phone debt. Apparently, she went over her limit on her mobile phone this month, so her mother is finding jobs for her to do - and my bathroom was one of them. My luck! She did an excellent job too.
Now, with the laundry all up to date, after I make my bed and dust - I find I am looking around to see what I can do next!

What a sensible thing for your daughter to do re making her daughter pay in kind for the excess use of her phone, and you must be delighted to have some of the house work done for you.
The heat here is becoming almost unbearable. We are sure that it has not been as hot as this before and if it has it was only for a day or so. The pool, which is not heated. Is like a warm bath, and that was at midnight! Today we are expecting the same temps, so more work for the cold water and ice dispenser. Not a luxury out here!
Our friends enjoyed their lunch with us yesterday as did OH but he complained that there wasn't enough meat!!
I do not have anything planned for today, I am going to " Go with the flow" as I used to saying my hippy days, ( only in the way I dressed ) never got into the smoking pot side...too scared I think!!
Was anyone else a Hippy?
Everything outside is still, I have been watching the trees for around 15 minutes, not even a slight movement, the sea is flat right out to the horizon, There is a full bright bright sun, even the water in the pool is still. Jet and Joe are in the house laying full length on the tiled floor, in the distance I can hear the occasional car, apart from that the odd drip from the outdoor shower, and I have just heard two men arrive at work a couple of houses away.
Well enough of my day so far, looking forward to reading more entries soon

Bridget, I know someone else who watches TV while his eyes are closed:) Overcast here to-day and heavy rain has been forcast, a good excuse for not doing the washing this morning! I have not experienced a temperature of 45 and can only imagine how hot that must be, not sure I would survive!.
Well the municipal workers countrywide are on strike, this is the second week, for an 18% salary increase, The problem is that they don't just gather quietly, they sing and dance ,they overturn rubbish bins, set fire to tyres and rubbish and generally make as much mess as they possibly can. My daughter had a frightening experience yesterday when she went to deliver a computer, as she turned a corner she found herself in the middle of the strikers, who rocked and thumped her car shouting and screaming abuse at her. She was a nervous wreck when she arrived back at her workshop and felt she needed something stronger than coffee - but as it was working hours she couldn't do that!
On a lighter note- I have now lost 4and a half kilograms which I am well pleased about, but what I wouldn't give for a slab of milk chocolate! I am hoping to lose another 5.
For the past two days there has been a new addition at the bird feeder - a red bishop, a smallbird with a black face and dark body and a broad bright red collar, I am hoping it will bring a few friends along.
Hav a lovely day.
Val.

Good morning to you all.
Today I am much happier, grandaughter will be home this morning and therefore all is well for me, nothing could bring me down today! Step son has a meeting today, re the figure of his children. His mother will be with him thank goodness. His dad, my OH, advised him last night to make a list of points he would like to discuss. However we are not convinced that he will take the advice. We can only wait and see.
Here the sun is shining and there is a slight breeze which is very welcome. Jet and Joe have been for a walk and are now exhausted and sleeping on the cool tiles. OH is on and off our computers, one downstairs, one in my room, one in the living room. The reason for so many is the one downstairs can be used by visitors and friends who do not have one of tjeir own, also games can belayed on this one. The one in my room, which is in reality the lovely room we extended from our bedroom a few years ago,it can be closed off from tne bedroom and opened from the verandah as well,is where I love to sit,do my research etc and see the lovely views, and then there is tne iPad a present to me when in the UK. OH is making sure that we have all the necessary protection from various sources...he has become quite the expert.
Tess,we are looking forward to you part of our chats.
I wonder if we should nominate a topic, please post any ideas, fun topics, silly topics, edited and wonderful topics, happy topics, serious topics etc etc etc!
Meanwhile I shall help OH to finish all the pruning, he did most of it yesterday. Oh I nearly forgot to say that I have 14 lovely looking figs on my tree which I planted last year. They are still quite small but look healthy, I am so thrilled. Now had about two dozen lovely pears from the 3 year old tree, the lemon trees are doing well but still am in two minds as to whether it is worth keeping the cumquat tree as it has not produced very much and to be honest I do not like them, nor does OH.
Best wishes to you all

Evening
Well, its poured nearly all day here, miserable, went out with OH to one of the local garden centres and had a full breakfast instead of a meal this evening, very nice tho could'nt do it all the time !! Bought some more bulbs for the garden, we have had so many blind ones last spring, but they have been in for a long time. When we got home the raised bed that we ordered Sunday had arrived...talk about service, now have to put it together and then fill it ready for veggies next year ! We really have enjoyed branching out this year, and plan to grow onions and broad beans as well next year. So watch this space !!!
Glad everything is alright for Bridget
