Well it's gone very quiet on here - just to show I am still alive I thought I had better do a posting.

Nothing to say really but it is raining in my part of London, and seems to be pretty miserable

I hope everyone is well and look forward to messages from Bridget et al soon

Best Regards
Gerard

Well we have crept into Autumn although the sunshine and warmth is telling us otherwise. No sign of any of our usual contributors this September, probably we all have better things to do.

Be back soon

Love and prayers to all

Totally disappointed that there have been no contributions this month - I am assuming no one wants to be on here any more
Shame :-(

Gerard, I think sometimes on here out of sight is out of mind. Once the thread sinks we lose it and forget to add. I assume that Bridget is still in rented accommodation and maybe without the internet. I hope all is well with her. Jan (Greenfingers) has had family health problems but is till around occasionally. Tess had a fall but is now ok and has been popping in to the Greaders threads. Maybe with the winter we will all come together again so please don't give up. Or you Cpt Pugwash.

I trust all who post on here are ok after the storm, we were lucky, despite being on amber warning it passed over/round us.

Do hope all are well and keep writing Gerard. :-)

Berona Report 29 Oct 2013 21:58

Just popping to raise the flag. My BP tablets were changed in recent months and I find that I am sleeping much longer than before. By the time I get to my computer, everyone has gone to bed! Hopefully, your latest change to DST will help.

Nothing really to report. Saw the storms on TV. Hope you don't get them again and pleased to know that those of you who I know, did not suffer from them. Our Spring started on 1st September and we have had mid-summer temps and early bushfires, with 210 homes lost and more than a hundred damaged. Two deaths and not to mention the stock, pets and wildlife - and we still have another month of Spring! Not looking forward to Summer.

Dont't take things for granted.I jumped over a garden wall of mine back in March, wrecked my knee and frarctured the length of my tibia.Had 4 operations and a biopsy, never been right since.Won't bend, won't straighten.

I could have walked through an open garden gate.

David that sounds painful, if only you could wind the clock back. Is there possibility that things will improve with time? I hope so.

I keep having that problem too Tess. I was thinking perhaps start a new thread but really that shouñd be Bridget's decision.

Not con tributed on here for a very long time. Went to UK in August and spreaded my mom's ashes at crematorium in Sutton which was her wish as my dad was cremated there. Also collected lots of her things that I wanted and have such a lot of photos - some I have no idea who they are - babies galore with no details on the back. Lots of interesting pieces of paper - certs etc. even the deeds of my grandparents grave which cost the great sum of one pound way back in the 30's.

Anyway, enough about me - hope everyone is well.

Take care
Love Mary xx

I have not had any trouble, as Gerard says I just click on 'post date' and the last post automatically comes up. Mary, that was good that you were able to scatter your mum's ashes. I am sure it was exciting yet frustrating to get hold of the photos. Good as my dad was there are still some photos in his scrap and photo books that are un-named. Some I could name from other photos but some remain a mystery.

Hope those who still pop in here are well. I wonder how Bridget is doing?

It's nice and sunny at the moment, so I am smiling.

Talking about photos........
A cousin in USA put one on FB with three children, standing outside a house.
Turns out to be my mother with two of her three brothers!! :-D <3 :-D
The previous earliest photo I've got of her are her wedding photos.
In this one she is about 8 years old. :-D :-D :-D

I am delighted, especially as I hadn't known of the existence of this photo.

<3 <3 <3 I love it!

I have recovered from my fall, no bones, glasses or teeth broken in the incident, so quite lucky really.

Will be seeing a physio later this month, mainly to get advice on what sort of exercise would be beneficial and which to avoid.
Also hoping that she will refer me for a stick. especially as I have had a few stumbles/near misses since my fall.

Next week I am joining a couple of friends from school, we are going on a Sinister Ghost Walk, through Birmingham in the evening. Will be starting and finishing in a pub, so that should be okay.

Mary, I know how frustrating it can be to have photos with no names,, years or details attached. My sister has got loads of family photos in a box which need to be sorted.
I am not much better, I've got a lot of photos, most of which I took. They are in their packets in carrier bags, waiting for me to get round to putting them in albums.
Have already "done" several albums each marked with relevant decade .... but not named all the people in them, or the places they were taken.
:-( :-( It is all on my very long (and misplaced) To-Do List. So if my family are interested in my albums they will be tutting at me in later years.

Will also be going to a garden centre later this month, looking forward to it.

All-in-all November will be a very busy month for me, don't reckon that I will name any photos somehow.

Gerard and Ann - I tried clicking on Post Date but nothing happened! Thought that I had misremembered the instruction :-S.
Will known now to be more persistent.

Hope that everyone is well.

Tess.

I went on a Ghost Walk in Birmingham on Friday night. Two of my school friends and my son came too. Was very interesting and informative. Started off in st Phillips Church Yard. The guide was in full funeral director regalia, including a top hat, wide black flowing ribbons and a black and silver stick. Would have been more spooky if there were not so many revellers around.
Good job that my son was there as I was able to lean on his arm for most of the time.

May try to grave yard walk when it gets lighter- which will include Warstone Cematery.

Off to my bed now as very tired. hope that you are all okay. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Greentiedmonster Report 18 Nov 2013 09:53

Just finished our first week of holiday - done absolutely nothing on most days - most relaxing - however, on Friday OH and I visited an old couple of sisters we know, so that I could put up a curtain rail in their sitting room. All I needed to do was drill six holes for the fittings and put up the rail and secure it. It took over three hours to drill the six holes. I have no idea what their walls were made of, but good quality drill bits hardly made a dent! The best thing was, that when I had finished and cleaned up they wanted to know how much to pay. I had done the job and purchased the rail as an 80th Birthday gift. I have never been so pleased by someone's reaction to a little bit of generosity. Makes life worthwhile.

Meanwhile it is dark and gloomy in London (well it is November) and I am looking forward to seeing some cricket from warm sunny Australia - but from what I have seen it is wet, not so hot Australia.

Spent a lot of time on the Tree - too many names on it now, but we are all connected, no matter how tenuous.

Signing off now - hope all is well with everyone
Love and prayers for all

Hiya All

That was a lovely thing to do Gerard and appreciated by the sisters.

Last week we had a new front door fitted. I don't know why but when we have work done on this house we always end up with so much mess. Don't get me wrong the Spanish workmen clean up afterwards but the dust goes all over the house. I spent a couple of hours Friday after they had gone sweeping etc. and Saturday we went and bought a curtain to hand over the door. Before Saturday lunchtime curtain pole and curtain were in place and we are both pleased with the result.

The temperature here has dropped dramatically - well for us it has - but still blue sky although a cold wind is blowing - good for getting the washing dry - so no complaints.

Tess your trip to Birmingham sounded good - I remember St. Philip's church very well.

Anyone heard anything from Bridget ? Hope she is ok

Well must be off hubby will be home for lunch soon.

Take care everyone

Love Mary xx

Still very busy - have been out for thre Christmas Celebrations in the last two weeks.
Will have to adjust my bathroom scales before I step on them so that I don't get too big a shock.

Have heard from Bridget. She is okay and hopes to be back on Genes in the next month. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Still doing exercises to improve my knees! They don't look any nicer, but perhaps a little less painful. :-D

Hope that everyone is ok.

Will be back again when not so busy.
