Bridget, that was a good find, that electrical shop and your new cooker, a great price too.
I am sorry to hear about your grandson. Do you think your granddaughter's accident and all the hospital fuss surrounding it has affected him in some way? I hope he feels better soon and that something can be done to help him.

Just popping in to say hello to all. Bridget, I hope your grandson's issues are resolved and he is back to his old self again soon. Ann - you must be pleased that you were not 'hacked about' this time. I can understand how good you must have felt when you came away from the doctor's.
Still hot here, with just the odd cooler day creeping in. I still sleep with only a cotton sheet covering me, as the overnight temps are still high. Still have bushfires burning in four states, but only a couple (one in Tasmania and one in Victoria) have been cause for alarm, getting a little too close to properties for comfort. The Rural Fire Service seems to have brought them under control. It depends on the wind.
In other parts of the northern states - we have people cleaning up after floods. .. Never a dull moment!

I hate doctors, hospitals and all TV programmes that include hospitals. I have seen my doctor less than 10 times in the last ten years. I don't go unless I really have to, and the only medication I will take (other than the doctor's prescription) is an Anadin or two. The best way for me to stay healthy is by eating and drinking healthily ( I have been a fish eating vegetarian for 28 years, and in that time only had four days off work for sickness)
Bridget so pleased your electricity was sorted, and that your grandson is well on the way to returning to 100% fitness.
Berona thanks for the latest Australian weather, we have just had another snowfall in London overnight, but it is starting to melt already, it certainly is climate change.
Went to church yesterday with OH, we both carried a candle in the procession this week (first time for me), usually little ones under ten years old do that job, but as it is half term, none were available.
Our little car is back on the road (Nearly £600 including £100 VAT for the government), but it was well worth it, relying on Public Transport is not the best option, especially at 4.30 am.
Well signing off now, Love and hugs to those who need them, keep warm (or cool) and prayers for all for another safe week.

Good morning to you all. It is cold here so far today, and the sea is very dark......I think we will stay at home today and simply try to relax,
My daughter has requested that I do not call her more than twice a month. My granddaughter can speak to me when ever she wishes and so can my grandson who was sent home yesterday.
I will try to find out how he is managing, in the next few days.
OH now is calling me so I will say bye for now and I will try to return later.
Hope that you all have a good day :-)

Perculiar weather here at the moment. Still got a little snow from last Sunday. But that seems to be thawring.
However, also got "white stuff" falling from the sky, now and again
Some icicles hanging from the snow topped shed roof, some drips coming from single story kitchen roof.
Sky is a light grey, sun is not visable.
I am staying in today (and possibly tomorrow). Trying to keep cheerful.
Bridget, the only Doddington I know of "off the top of my head" is a Doddington Farm, in the West Midlands. Used as a retreat by Birmingham nursery and Infant schools.
A way for city children to see the country side.
Tess
Will be back when I can find my smiles.

Gerard, I hardly ever went to the doctor until I moved here, where they have a programme of calling you in for check up if you are on BP pills. I assume that if your BP was high you would take medication as it is preferable to the alternative. However, if you have good BP then please count yourself fortunate. Some people of course have no option but to visit the doctor.
Once I spotted a small lump I didn't recognise and got it checked that was the start of my regular visits to the dermatologist. That was four years ago and is not the result of eating meat, no amount of diets will stop rodent ulcers from forming if you are fair skinned and spent your childhood living by the sea and visiting the beach pre the era of factor sun creams. Being a vegetarian would not protect me from that I assure you. And if I had the choice I would never visit the hospital. Other than prescription pills it is very rare for me to take any other pills.
When I worked approx 30 years altogether, I had 3 days off with septic tooth and no more than 5 days altogether for minor illness. The 3 days were when I was 18 and was told to stay off by the dentist. The 5 days were in the last 25 years of work. Not a bad record and not a frequent visitor to the doctor fortunately.
Those who never have to visit either GP or hospital are very lucky.
I now have my minor op date - 11 april for a 30 minute appointment.

Are you Doddingtons on here or on the other site An....ry? I have quiet a few but deleted many more and now I wish I had not as I was on the right track. I do have some family tree on here but stopped adding a long time ago when I went else where. Would it be possible to see your tree?
My grandson is improving slowly and very one else is jogging along very well.
Happy Valentines Day to everyone on here. I will try to get back later todat.
OOPs., forgot to say the ZZs mother is on Face Book and so are some of ZZs photos, my niece has started a world wide action re how to help find a way to eradicate this sad condition If anyone is interested I will give details to individuals.

No Valentines card this year (again) I really wasn't expecting one.
However, got another unexpected letter. Not addressed to me (or my son) but to someone called Andre S.
Luckily my son opened the letter, because this Andre S. has given my address when found travelling without a ticket, from Birmingham to Bristol.
Hoping this can be sorted pdq as I don't want this debt (£80) attached to my address.
I think that I will have to buy myself a new cooker to cheer myself up.
My present one (which has a replacement element), turs itself of on a whim. Very difficult timing things that are cooking. Also won't come back on again till it feels like it. A right moody whatsit! :-P
Snow has gone. :-D So have got something to smile about :-D :-D

Good morning to you all. I have not forgotten you but been busy re family both living and Ancesters. Does anyone else find that finding Ancesters can be tedious and unable to find and then suddenly they all appear at once?
Weather looking better today, rather dull for the last few days, I hope it starts to get warmer soon.
Off soon to buy a few plants and have some shopping to do, so have to say bye bye for now. Have a good day.
Bridget :-)

Good morning from a cold, wet and blustery day in Peniscola! It has been an unusually wet & cold winter this year. There has been the odd day that is warm but song " blowing in the wind " just about fits our weather.
Tess how concerned you must have been re the the surprised re the non existence of the journey and the £80 ticket, pleased that your son helped.
Have you chosen which cooker you would like? I am pleased with mine now I remember how to turn on and off etc. I cooked a really delicious Fish Pie and it all went smoothly.
My friend will be visiting around 11am re her family tree. She wants it down loaded but also thinks it will be like the view online!
I think that I will download the census etc and then write the rest and give to her. I have suggested that she now joins An....try but said "oh, I cannot afford to do so, plus paying for paper, ink etc! ".
Well off now to have a coffee, so bye bye for now and maybe others will add today...I hope so
Bridget :-)

Hi Everyone
I am sure we are not deserting Bridget's thread!
Bridget - did you get to see the Doddingtons yet? Your tree on the other lot is it private or public, 'cos if it's public I can visit it anyway.
Ann - I wasn't having a go at you - I was just mentioning that diet can often affect our medical status - particularly things like high blood pressure from too much salt - diabetes from too much sugar and obesity and all the problems that brings from too much!
Tess - a good idea not to ignore the letter re the fine - we had a dodgy company up our street at 1B (we are 18) and they managed to have enough debts for Bailiffs to call at our house, when I explained that they were at the wrong address, they were reluctant to believe me, although it was obvious that they were in the wrong. Fortunately life caught up with them and their company is now defunct and we get no more letters for them.
Berona - I am pleased to hear that the fires are now mostly under control - but the weather is still too hot - keep cool - make sure that air conditioner is well serviced!
I'm off to church shortly with OH, the church will be looking extremely drab as it is Lent - we use the old tradition of covering all the church's fancy bits and have no flowers, it means we look forward to Easter especially!
Signing off now, love to all, prayers for those in need, Keep warm (or cool) Gerard <3 :-) <3 :-) <3 :-)

Gerard. I will send you a message so you can see my other place full of trees!
We had a fright today, as usual I was up around 7am and made my coffee, Jet one of my lovely dogs did not want his food and it was difficult to make him even drink...... Then looked at the news and realised that Jet was trying to stand up but could not do so. Would not eat his food, then he slumped, but was still breathing. Peter got up took one look at him and called the Vet who told us to bring him immediately ...so we did.
Two hours, and many tests we found that he had a stroke! What a relief. He has lots of Meds to take and we visit again in a couple of days.
We are watching West Ham : Arsenal match and it is 1-1 at the moment yet WH should be ahead.
Bridget <3 :-)

Hello to all. Just showing the flag. Nothing much to report. The fires are either out, under control, or just burning where they don't matter. In the meantime, floods are the thing of the moment, and the poor Queenslanders are copping it again, less than two years after last time. They had just got everything cleaned up and looking normal, too. Northern NSW has had floods also with thousands of people evacuated from their homes. This is still going on in many areas - whilst here in Sydney, there has been rain and wind in the city area, but on the western side where I am - only the occasional light shower - plenty of heat (around 30c each day) with not enough rain to water a garden. We seem to have a bit of everything.

I thought that I had replied, sorry. Gerard, I will send you a message re my other tree, and yes I have looked on my tree on here as well. We had a difficult day yesterday. Our lovely Cocker Spaniel Jet, was very quiet and then he flopped to the floor, I helped him up and tried to encourage him to eat. It was hot so I bout out fresh water and then started to do some work. About 15 minutes later I noticed he was not on the veranda so looked for him and he was laying down on one of the raised flower beds. I rushed out and thought he was dead! However I managed to find that he was breathing and opened his eyes but no response. I called for my husband about 15 minutes later as I could not raise any attention from Jet. Called vet who said bring him now, so of we went. 2 hours later after many examinations, etc he was walking, quiet , and would not eat. He had a stroke, now I have to give him 4 lots of medication and in a month he should only have two Meds for the rest of his life. We are so relieved.
To everyone, enjoy your day, your family and your pets. :-) <3 :-) <3

Bridget - sorry about your Jet - I remember when I was about six or seven, 'Auntie' Lilian (who was actually the wife of the plumber and not related) had a chocolate cocker and I got to play with it when she visited - one day it had a 'fit' when I was playing ball with it. I am thinking this may have been a 'stroke'. Good news was the dog did recover and lived at least another three years.
I think I have found your tree on the other lot - obviously living relatives are not visible.
Sorry again about the football, but it wasn't my beloved Arsenal that beat you but that dreadful North London team T***enham.
Gerard :-D <3
