Tec isn't it annoying when that happens. The other day I posted and it didn't go through so I posted it again and it posted twice:) What I asked you in an earlier post was if you had ventured down my way when in Sydney. We are just an hour or so south of Sydney in the Illawarra region.

Linda, if you're looking in - hope your mum is continuing to improve.

I've no idea about Daff, Sue, she just mentioned to someone that if needed someone could tell the time in Outer Mongolia pmsl. I felt a bit sorry for Inner Mongolia cos it always gets over looked lol As for where it is, I can just about get England, Scotland and Wales in the right places on a map lol

As I was trying to explain earlier, 'till it got lost in cyber space.....
I don't think I ever went far south of Sydney.

Most of my friends seemed to live in central Sydney - Rushcutters Bay,
Manly, Bondi Junction, one in Kirribilli (sp)

Had one friend who had a very swanky Pent House Suite on top of the
Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank overlooking the bridge.
Some amazing parties he used to throw!

Btw Mongolia is in Northern Asia and borders China and Russia.

Whilst Australia is girt by sea, a desirable residence in Mongolia is a yurt by the sea

I've had my sleep after a night shift. I am the "independent hygeinist" while they do some asbestos removal. It's now 14.15 local an tonight should be the last. Until Stage 2.
Hi Cat, love to Daff, whoever she is. I think you was joking, but Inner Mongolia is a province of China. Outer Mongolia is an separate country, landlocked. No yurt by sea there. Not sure what time it is there, but most of China uses Beijing time which is 8 hrs ahead of GMT.
Hi Sue, Berona, Allan,also Lynda and Tec when you wake up.
Tec- Kirribilli- real class there. Bondi Junction, moving upmarket. The railway line and a giant shopping mall. Manly... seven miles from Sydney and a thousand miles from care. A wonderful ferry ride, too. Other ferry rides I like include the one to Mosman. Almost better than a harbour cruise, except drinks not provided. Mosman Bay is so quiet and secluded.

I'm glad you told us where Inner Mongolia is, Colin. I thought it would be inside Outer Mongolia where the Russians send their soldiers who behave badly - or am I thinking of Siberia? I have been around the world once by ships and once by planes, but I'm still hopeless at geography.

Good morning/evening all. Hope you are all well:)) Linda, I do hope you mother is continuing to improve.

Well the meeting we had yesterday was......interesting:) Our boss and a representative from the Cancer Council. All my committee turned up and I was very pleased about this. Also representatives from cancer support groups. The boss was surprised to see so many and immediately went into attack mode. Of course they have the idea that we are a group of silly old women with nothing better to do. In fact most of the committee are retired professional women and those who are not have a great deal of life experience and are active in the community. When we presented our questions they were surprised at how well informed we were and how well we presented our point of view. I suggested that a working party be formed to work alongside the Cancer Council and this was accepted. I think the changes are inevitable but at least they can see that they will have to make some concessions.

Today is a leisure day. We are off to a garden expo in Sydney. The weather looks good and I'm hoping to make some purchases for the garden. Talk soon, my friends:))

Sue, I'm glad that your meeting went well. The arrogance of some professionals is alarming.

Colin, glad you could help Cat and Daff. I went to school in the UK in the days when Britain still thought that it had an empire. We spent some time learning about the USA, a little on Australia, rather more on Europe and mostly on Africa! I can still hear those dreaded words 'Now turn to pages 44 and 45 in your school atlas. I cannot recall that we learnt anything about Asia.

Hi Berona. I'm sure it was Siberia that was Russia's equivalent of the 'Norty step'!

It seems that everyone is having an early something....

Well as I am busy running about like a blue coloured fly (it is forbidden to use the correct term), I normally come back to a string of posts to read, but there are hardly any,so you must all be busy as well.

I am spending every afternoon at the hospital with mum, she is going to be in there for the long term once again. She is still being treated for pneumonia and they have just confirmed that she did have an underlying bladder infection. I was there when the consultant did his ward round yesterday and it was laughable as he obviuosly hadn't even looked at her file and had no idea at all about all of her complex medical history.

I could write a book about how incompetent this hospital is. There has been lots on the news since yesterday about poor patient care, Some of the things which happened to my father and to my mother would be in place with the worst of those stories.

Odd bits of her NHS care have been excellent, such as the treatment she receives for her eye problems, but anything which involves al long term stay has been incompetent at best. She is upset at the moment because she feels she is being treated as an idiot just because she is old. Yes she is deaf,so often mishears, but her mind is first class. I watched yesterday while a nurse took her blood pressure etc. She spoke to my mother once to say she was going to do it, then for the whole of the time she was there, she was chatting to the younger patient in the next bed, she didn't even look at mum.

Every time I go in, her buzzer is up on the locker behind her,so she can't reach it,so she has no way to summon help. She can't get out of bed on her own,so she is desperate for the toilet, but can't call them. They have only just conceded that she is unable to walk to the toilet and needs a commode to be brought to her. This is despite the fact that as soon as she is taken off her oxygen her heart begins to race and that is only when she is in the bed. last night she was in such a bad way after they forced her to walk across the room to the toilet that they had to send for the doctor.

Sorry to rant, but our NHS is nothing short of a disgrace when it comes to dealing with old people and no the nurses are not rushed of their feet, they just sit chatting away at the nurses station while buzzers are going of, leaving the patients to become distressed.

Linda, what can I say about your mum's treatment. Don't the nurses know that one day they wil be in the same predicament? In most cultures to be elderly is to be revered, but in the west it is treated like some horrible disease.

my thoughts are with your mum, and I am a firm believer in Karma
