Hi Carole,

Thanks for the good wishes and the imbibing guardian angel!!

I hope you have your water issues all sorted out now.

I guess I had better go and put some tea on for the tribe. I have done nothing all day, but sit at the computer, watch a Murder She Wrote dvd and had a little catnap. Now, I need to do ironing. I could do with a fairy at the mo.

Take care and...Carole??.....STAY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phew all those pages since I went to bed took some catching up on. There were all sorts of things I was going to comment on, but now I can't remember them!

I hope your water is more wholesome now Alison, sometimes they overdo the chlorine (or whatever it is they use) and ours comes out smelling like a public swimming pool

Alison, where did you find the electoral rolls on Ancestry? I was looking for them but can't see them

Sydneybloke

Sydneybloke Report 13 Oct 2009 10:07

Linda, I think Alison was talking about Australian electoral rolls on ancestry.com.au. I had a quick look earlier.
For my state (NSW) Ancestry previously had only 1930 and 1936. They seem to have added at least 1933, a949 and 1954. Other states will have different years, for reasons I do not understand. We are talking about Commonwealth of Australia rolss, but although NSW had only 1930 and 1936 I found distant relatives in other states in 1905.
Colin.
PS Alison, I also will be thinking of you on Thursday.. Colin.

Allan, so you have hairy legs in the afternoon as well??? Do you talk to wheelie bins in the afternoon, or only in the dark? We usually call them Otto bins here, although the local council here uses a brand called Sulo.

Oh thank you Colin, I forgot Alison was down under. Silly me when she said Cairns, I thought that it was Scotland!
I have used the Australian collection to follow some of the rellies out there, so I will look again now I know they have been updated.

I am off to spend an enthralling day, first battling with the council tax people to try and get them to reissue a cheque for the money they owe to mum. The current cheque is made out to her,so is of no use what so ever.

Then I am going to venture into her loft space and sort through all the treasures in there. Except I know from a previous incursion, that it is mainly junk.I feel another journey to the tip (sorry civic amenities site) coming on

I can't stand all this excitement about Allan's hairy legs - and now stilletto heels. You must be the talk of the town:-))

Janet, I always missed my children when they went back to school but it was also nice to get back into the routine. Of course the house would be tidy all day and then they would walk in and there would be bags and shoes everywhere.

Carole glad you got your waterworks sorted:-)))))

Alison come on here often so we can make you laugh and take your mind of Thursday - we're with you all the way, girl.

Colin does Allan sound as crazy to you as he does to me? Nice crazy of course:-))

Hi Linda - good luck with the sort out. Not the best job but it has to be done and you're doing well getting stuck into it. Apart from that I hope your life is getting back to some sort of normalcy.

Hello Suemaid, actually Allan doesn't sound crazy to me. Although, I think I told you that the certificate of sanity I got when I left the asylum had expired.
it was more that I am just getting the hang of talking to eachother live, rather than read a whole lot of posts. Using the refresh button, and all that. I don't want to keep it up too long.
Hello to our northern hemisphere friends- or is it too late for you? I thought it was about 10.45 am there. Perhaps you are all at work or at least have better things to do. Such as morning tea. C.

SueMaid Report 13 Oct 2009 10:53

Hi, Colin. If Allan doesn't sound crazy to you then maybe you're as mad as he is:-)) You did say your certificate has expired. Does that mean they're looking for you?

Sydneybloke Report 13 Oct 2009 11:02

Don't think so, Sue.
I was not mad, I only thought I was.
I was about to tell all but I think on a public board it might be wise not to.
Medication time.
Good Night.

Berona Report 13 Oct 2009 11:02

Well! You've all been busy, haven't you? I popped in to see if anyone had added to the posts - and had a page and a half to read!

I see Barbra dropped in briefly. Hello Barbra. Come back again. Also, Carole, Janet, Colin, Alison and Linda! I thought this thread had a sleep during the Oz day - but it's still on the front page of Chat! I know Sue and Allan sometimes pop in like I do, but this is great. We'll have to get Tec motivated to talk to us during HIS morning. I only came in to write a letter before closing down for the night. Better get on with it. Pleasant dreams to the downunders and have a nice day to those who haven't had lunch yet!

SueMaid Report 13 Oct 2009 11:29

Good night, Colin and Berona and any other downunders who are looking in. Enjoy your day our upsider friends:-)))

Good morning/evening everyone:-) It's a beautiful morning here - the sky is blue, the wind has dropped and while I'm waiting for you lot to come on board I'll have my morning coffee on the verandah. Wish you could all join me.

I'm hoping for a lazy day today. OH has been in west Sydney all week as we have the World Masters' Games on in and around Sydney. He's exhausted but having a great time. He is involved with the football (soccer) games and looking after the players' injuries. He's met people from Canada, America, Mexico and the Phillipines. The oldest contestant is 100 y.o. and she's in athletics. The website, should you want to read about it is

Tecwyn Report 13 Oct 2009 21:26

Good Morning/Evening wherever you are,

Hope everyone is well,
Today was a perfect autumn day here, sunny, clear blue sky, warm and no wind. The sea was like a millpond and there were several fishing boats in the bay. The trees now have a definate autumnal tinge to them and look beautiful in autumn colours.
We went for a drive to Porthmadog 40 miles away. I went into a T*sco Supermarket for the first time in fifteen years. We don't have a major supermarket here within striking distance. Just a Sp*r, and the C*-op.
I shall not comment on that, other than to say we have decided to do a monthy trip to Porthmadog for shopping.
That's what we've been up to today, exciting or what?

Regards
Tec.

SueMaid Report 13 Oct 2009 21:31

Hello, Tec. Is Porthmadog a nice place or is Tesco's the main attraction. It sounds like you had a lovely day.

Good morning Sue,
Looks like we're both enjoying nice weather, I wish I could join you on the verandah too. Your OH seems to be having a great, if tiring time. Imagine being 100 yrs old, and still competing, how amazing is that. Good for him/her. I shall look up the website later.
