Dear Helen, could you please include on my invitation: 1 dog, 4 cats, 29 hens and 4 roosters. Oh and one husband, I assure you husband is very well behaved. I will not vouch for the rest of the mob though.

Nudging to see how it went.

I read this thread with a mix of amazement and then cheek of some people.meaning the guests who wanted to lock their kiddies in the hotel bedroom. Been wondering too how it all turned out and hoping Clares daughters wedding went OK and wasnt spoilt by these guests.

Yes just wondered how the wedding went.

I remember years ago, one of my friends would not have her little niece as bridesmaid, the reason, she said she would only wet herself while the wedding was going on, in the front of the altar.

Two of my nephews were supposed to bear the rings on cushions, at their uncle's wedding, One boy was about five,the other seven. They ended up fighting with the cushions at the back of the Church.
Then when their father stopped them there was a screaming set out.
They were never asked to do this again at the other family weddings

It is a pity Claire has not come back to update us as she got a lot of advice and support on this thread. I too wonder what happened at the wedding.

Back to our doggy friends, the parents didn't bring the children to OH's party as they found a babysitter. Dad came round with an enormous tent in the afternoon and proceeded to put this up - all ok by us. Then we found out it was his wife's birthday that day! Poor girl!

Anyhow it pee'ed with rain (can I say that?) so they went home instead of camping.

Next day Dad arrive to pack up the tent after it had dried out! Poor guy.

I hope the problem guests behaved:)

Don't think it was a discussion, Dermot.... a bride made a stipulation... bride's perogative... and some guests were not going to stick to the terms of the invitation.... and were intending to put small children at risk.... now, if it had been a dress code, not one person would have criticised a decision to bar those who did not adhere to that code.....

Personally, a wedding for me involves children... but well behaved children, and parents who have a pre arranged plan to nip crying babies or disruptive kids out during the ceremony, especially the vows, should they start. But.... I cannot stress enough... it is the bride's big day... and she has that choice.

No discussion... end of... it is all about respecting the Bride's choices.

Don't like it... don't go!!

Sorry I havent repiled sooner,,,straight after the wedding we went away for a couple of weeks to de-stess..lol..

Well...
It was absolutley fantastic,,
Jenny looked beautiful,,and i was soooo proud of her,,she looked lit up inside ,,,she smiled and laughed and cried all day and danced all night,
The food was gorgeous,,wine luscious and the setting perfect,
As a suprise we organised a magican to entertain during the photos and he went down a storm,,Also a firework display ,,,the happy couple had to press the detonator to start it all off and the hotel turned off all the lights so we could see better,,It was worth every penny,
Elisabeth a GR member gave Jenny an old sixpence to wear in her shoe and it stayed in the shoe all day ,even through the dancing,
My favourite memories are of her smiling at her groom as she walked to meet him
Crying as she said her vows,,,the bridemaids sitting in a row behind us and sharing one hanky between them. My 11 year old grandson looking so grown up and handsome in his suit and my husband and ex husband getting on like a house on fire,
The pregnant couple with the kids came without the kids after all..and i met up with lots of old friends that i hadnt seen for years,
So in all....a wonderful wonderful time,

So you had a honeymoon too Claire, good for you!

I am glad everything went so well and the children weren't put at risk, I am sure it was nice for their parents to have some fun together, without the worry of the children, before the next little one arrives too. Hopefully they will have realised how much better it is to stick to the rules, and I hope they will become more responsible parents too.

I wish Jenny and her husband all the luck in the world for a wonderful life together.
