Ah well Mel - in days of yore (before the advent of the lunatic asylum) those females who were deemed to have committed an offence against the male of the species (either actual or perceived) were sent to a Nunnery: hence the saying "Get thee to a Nunnery".

Poor old Arthur though, he knew he had done her wrong, and was racked with guilt about it - he loved her so much that he knew he should have let her get on with whatever she was enjoying - wouldnt do though for a King of the Realm to be seen to be "weak" so off she went.....................................

Poor old Art! what a decision he had to make eh?

See Mel - I think he was probably trying out a Gary Rhodes recipe at the time of the invasion.

We all know just how critical the timing is on those receipes, and he just missed the important couple of minutes between delight and disaster!!!

Quelle domage!!! burnt cake....................nasty pong.............indication to the intruders of the vicinity of the enemy,......................and Bob's yer uncle! JD! Job's done!

But how could he Mel???? burnt cake? Anglo Saxon Kings have their pride you know? )))) and there was nowt else in the pantry he could offer them, at the time. All he could do was sound battle orders.

Men eh? who'd have 'em? ))) had it been a woman she would have opened a tin of Spam and made a dozen rounds of sarnies!

~♥footie~angel♥~ Report 10 May 2009 18:55

Well I reckon that it was Arthur who was up the tree because he had burnt someone's cakes.

And what's more ........................ I heard that he then went off to London to confront a load of revolting pheasants !

~♥footie~angel♥~

~♥footie~angel♥~ Report 11 May 2009 15:35

Hello Robin, ~~~~~~~~ Arthur up a tree too! ~ oh my goodness there's so much history I just don't recall and what was wrong with these medieval Kings that they all stayed home and made cakes ~ who won the wars us women lol nothing changes there then!

Why were the pheasants revolting? ~ had they contracted some kind of medieval bird flu!

Oh dear so much hidden in archives of history ar teachers never got paid enough to crowd control and teach all the facts obviously! x

Conan Report 11 May 2009 15:58

Don't worry Mel, I am well versed in English history and can fill in the blanks for you.

Arthur was a real man's man who won plenty of wars.

Did you know that he drank the French under the table in a gin court ?

ShimmsRedRoseAndMistletoe

ShimmsRedRoseAndMistletoe Report 11 May 2009 16:05

Hi Mel, Robin :))

This is tongue in cheek ...

Robin ... Arthur drinking the French under the table in a gin court? Play on words, Agincourt? Probably not, most likely me being dippy lol. xxx

Mel, a very interesting thread, luvin the way questions are asked, history is brought to life as tis discussed, debated and more. xxx

~♥footie~angel♥~ Report 11 May 2009 16:12

Hiya Shims ~~~~~~~~~ ar you sure ~ no Robin would never do that! ~ or would he woo can tell! lol

He seems to kno his stuff Shims if it were a battle why were they drinkin!

I suppose if he was a stay-at-home man in those days then maybe he would welcome a drink or two ~ now am totally confused a gin man? thought he woulda prefered mead or strongbow!
