Morning all... bright and breezy this morning.... that's me, not the weather... dull and dismal is the weather, lolol Still, the garden needs it.

B eventually got around to washing my car yesterday.... not sure whether to go out in it all gleaming and shiny, or wrap it in cling film to keep it that way, lol

I feel a bit restless today.... can't set my mind to doing much... just ironed a couple of shirts for R.... put a load in the washer..... tumble dryer is on from the load I did late yesterday.... the kitchen looks like a bomb has hit it.... and I am too restless to sit and do any craftwork so I might go and have a browse around the shops....... if I see anything that the girls would like for Christmas, maybe I shall get it for them.... I'd like to get my mother a red cardigan to go with a dress I bought her a few weeks ago..... maybe I'll look for that.

Maz.... they are monkeys when they are that age, lolol..... Pol, as old as she is, still has her silly moments...... I think that is part of the pleasure of sharing your home with cats... they are so aloof one minute, and the next such absolute clowns and very entertaining.

Mamiddau.... I do hope the job is wonderful!!

Ann... she was probably cream crackered, lol

~~~~~~~~~ to everyone
Morning (just) all, just been to the hairdresser then this afternoon have the dentist, not looking forward to a mouth full of gunge ugh!!!
A damp morning here, had a bit of rain so the garden is refreshed, had coffee round the garden centre and bought some little narcissi for a bowl
Other than that not doing a lot, might sort out my pressie drawer to get ready for the Christmas present buying! Have six birthdays before Christmas as well although most of those are money gifts, have to buy for my Gt Niece though, probably clothes she will be eight and the same size as Granddaughter so easy to buy for. Have to take that down when we visit sister on the 6th Nov. Also need to sort what craft stuff I am taking to M Keynes next week for S to 'play' with, have found a small plastic crate to fill. Oh well plenty to keep me occupied then. Maybe I should also do some H*******k hmm!!
Blimey Ann, no wonder you have to shop for Christmas early, our family consists of four, but still struggle to find gifts to suit... but would have swopped you for a bigger family...
We have just had a huge downpour, the water is running like a small stream.
I thought we were in for some decent weather according to the forecast, not a lot we can do about it though...hope its better were you all are..
Well it was soon over and a lot better than when I last had it done 36 years ago.
Back to making cards now.
Sallie Report 6 Oct 2009 15:51
Daff, hope you had a successful shopping trip and were able to get the girls something for Christmas. Hope you were able to get something for the girls.
I haven't even thought much about Christmas yet, with one thing and another.
There are a few people that I haven't got a clue what to get for them. My friend, who I usually go out with, had an operation the middle of August, so we have missed our shopping trips, because she hasn't been able to walk about too long, and not able to carry anything too heavy.
I hope you are feeling a bit more settled now Daff--and that you are feeling well.
Speak to you soon. Thinking about you!
Love, Sallie.xx
Back home, now.... Glad that is all done and dusted, Ann.... I hate having that gunge in my mouth!
I didn't see anything for the girls... well, let's qualify that, I saw loads, lol...... but not that I was prepared to spend a fortune on, lol I bought a new pillow, some voile, a curtain rod, some cupboard paint, some white satin paint for the radiator covers, some new paint brushes........ and some tiny dinky little lampshades in a lovely turquoise. Think that might be the colour R's computer room is going to end up! ;¬)) Well..... they don't *go* anywhere else!
Sallie, I am doing really well, slow but steady progress with the blood, which I may well have to accept will never get back to normal, but that isn't too great a problem... gives me an excuse to malinger, lol ;¬)) Still get whacked out some days... but they are getting further and further apart, and I am recovering far more quickly. I feel generally great, so that is a huge bonus! Thank you..
Jean.... I have 7 siblings, 2 sons, 2 granddaughters, (son 2 also has a newish girlfriend of 8 months, with 2 children, so they will need a prezzie this year) 17 nieces and nephews, 2 gt nieces, and a gt nephew.
I buy each family a tin of Quality street... no arguments, then. But I do like to spoil my own girls..... can't take it with us!!
Oh well... back out to Asda.... forgot the bread. Not like me to forget something, is it? ;¬))
Glad you were sensible Daff and didn't give in to expensive gifts, tempting though they are. Sounds like you had a good spend anyway.
Jean, at Christmas I buy for Daughter, SiL, Son, DiL, 5 grandchildren, 1 Gt Gt Nephews, 1 Gt Gt niece, 1 Gt niece, 1 sister, 6 friends and three children of friends. And 1 husband. I spread it over the year and it is not a problem as I don't buy huge presents.
JustJean
JustJean Report 6 Oct 2009 19:12
Lol, I buy for J, daughter, grandson,1 friend, a couple off here. thats it, but I do spend a lot so probably works out even....but I only get little gifts.... big sigh.....
MrDaff
MrDaff Report 6 Oct 2009 19:33
*holds crossed fingers behind back* Ann, I was very sensible, lolol.... however... I am off to order the rest of my kitchen tomorrow.... half price and an extra 30% as well.... can't be bad. Guess what my fellas will be doing in a couple of weeks? lol
I have 3 reaching 21 in the next couple of months...... and one of my nieces off to Paris for a painting thingy with the school... I have promised her all the Euros in a purse I keep... well, there are almost 70 Euros in it... still, she deserves it.
The boys will get cheques, as no-one has any idea what they would like... and I just got a shrug and a *anything is fine, thank you*... the girl I have a good idea what she wants, I have collaborated with her parents and chatted with her... lol. Although I might just give them all cheques, they might find that better. Or cash????? Oh dear..... all these decisions!
Right.... R will be home soon..... I have bought a steak and ale pie... we'll have that with mash and peas.... we had a lovely home made minestrone for lunch... R took a flask as well as his sandwiches... so we've had loads of other veg... I like most soups, but really love them chunky!!
Daff, our three eldest Grandsons and two friends teenagers get cheques or vouchers. Boys are sooo difficult and love money. Daughter gets a Christmas carrier bag full of small pressies (some more expensive than others, all wrapped individually, takes ages. She does the same for me. SiL, gets several small pressies, DiL and son usually provide a list from Amazon, littly likes clothes, 13 year old Grandson usually has some sort of list, *sigh I suppose he will soon want cash! Friends, who are neighbours have smallish pressies, his is sometimes in a bottle!!
MrDaff Report 6 Oct 2009 21:52
Son 2 still loves his selection box... he'll be 35 later this month!! His little lip trembled with disappointment a couple of years ago when I didn't get him one, lolol
I do that, too, Ann.... lots of little things all wrapped individually..... for me, buying prezzies that people will love is the best bit.... .
Do you have traditions in your home, every Christmas I buy three chocolate oranges, one each, I dont like them, so I get chocs, J always gets t*******e, I have large doll that I knitted called Mr Jolly Jingle he comes out every Christmas, and stands in the corner ,we never open presents until after a light lunch, either..Christmas dinner is usually after 4,o clock....
One tradition I don't dare forget is the box of liqueurs that I buy our son.
We open presents after breakfast, but also have some on the tree to open in the evening. Depends where we are when we eat but it is usually about 2pm. Last year (and probably this) we were on our own and decided that we would have the turkey dinner hot on Christmas eve then have all the cold meats and pickles etc at 2pm on christmas day and it was lovely, we really enjoyed our food. Then Boxing day we had duck.
AnninGlos
AnninGlos Report 6 Oct 2009 22:22
My Mum always used to buy me a box of milk tray and, as long as she isn't posting presents my sister keeps up that tradition.
