wishing all of you the best of luck and tell him that when he comes round from the op we will all be there in spirit!!! on the other hand, best not, might be too much for him!!!!

He'll be sitting up and taking notice in no time at all and wondering what he was worried about, along with the rest of you

Hi Theresa
Just to say good luck to your dad, er, did they tell him about the leg shave, my hubby was very put out when the nurse turned up with a couple of razors and told him to go shave the insides of his legs, from top to bottom, and his chest was like a baby's bottom it was that smooth. I ended up doing it for him. lol
Anyway all best wishes and will look out for the updates.

Love Barbara xx

Thank you everyone, I just can't remember everyone's names, my mind is racing at the moment. Barbara2 you never told me about the shaving his legs bit lol! Dad was most amused the other day when they measured his legs for the surgical stockings!!!

Well he is in Hospital now and the nurses are going to give him a sleeping tablet at 8pm. ( i think he will be glad because he is next to a chap on the ward who is a bit of a "knowall" , mum's words not mine ! ) then he is first on the list at 8am tomorrow morning, mum has been told to ring after 1pm so i will let you all know then.

Thanks again
Teresa.

UPDATE 1.

Mum just called the hospital and Dad has only just come out of Theatre. The nurses couldn't say anything else and told Mum to ring back in an hours time. Sounds like it went ok, but will know more soon.

Hi Theresa

Glad to hear it all went well, your dad should start to come round about now but will not remember much about it, this is the worse time for you and your mum, because he won't look too good, but tomorrow, he will look better and hopefully will be back on the ward soon. I forgot about the stockings, its a nightmare getting them on but necessary and will make him cross..., give you something to tease him about.

Take care of yourself & your mum too

Update 3.

Mum has gone to see Dad tonight, My Brother has taken her over, I am hoping to go over tomorrow night if all is ok tonight.

He has been on the ventilator all afternoon and the Doctors had been trying to make him come round a bit, but as far as i could understand he was too drowsy to respond, Hopefully by the time mum has got there tonight there maybe some improvement.

Thanks everyone for posting, when he is well enough i shall show him all these messages xxxx

well tell him we are all thinking of him and wishing him well - anaesthetic always knocked me out for days on end - takes people differently and I suppose it depends on how long you were under

Update 4.

GOSH 13 bypass operations, can't believe your body could go through all that could you.

Mum called last night to say that Dad was off the ventilator and had been put onto oxygen because he wasn;t taking deep enough breaths on the ventilator. He was still in the Recovery room but was moved into another in between room. while mum was there. He hadn't quite come round but mum said he sort of knew she was there. ( I had a lump in my throat when she said that. ). He was moaning a bit about his neck hurting and the nurses couldn't get him comfortable, when they moved him his chest hurt him so he wasn't a happy bunny last night. He must be getting better if he is moaning lol!.

We are going to see him tonight so i will post tomorrow.

Teresa.

Great news Teresa

He will soon be on the road to recovery, sounds like he's doing everything he should be, and he will soon be home expecting everyone to run themselves ragged looking after him.
I'm so pleased and you're not boring anyone.

Take care
