Indeed are local dialects important?

Last time I visited the place where I spent most of my childhood,
so many of the current residents have moved from elsewhere, there doesnt seem to be a local dialect like there was in days gone by,

People move around much more these days.

A broad Geordie accent sounds German, some strains of it sound Norwegian

Hi Winterwitch, I grew up in Finchley then moved to Wood Green with my OH. We now live in a small village in Hertfordshire and some of the local people here do have an accent.
