Oh and if you haven't decided on names can I put Gregory into the mix? Not many about, my son is the only one at his school and there are 1500 kids there!

I have just had a card from a nephew & his wife announcing the birth of their daughter who they have called Amica Tiora. Amica comes from latin Amicus meaning friend. Tiora is the name of nephews late mother, a maori name for the stitchbird. Perhaps you could use the name Rima, which is maori for 5.
A friends granddaughter called her daughter Xanthe (zan-thee).

I have a second cousin called Poppy, Vicky, and her sister is Bryony.

Don't forget to check the initials with your surname, my step niece didn't seem bothered when she called her daughter Jessica Ann and the surname begins with F, I did remind her to think about it but the poor little soul, at school now, is FAT!
Her second daughter is Isobel so IF, can't remember what the middle name is lol

Could save a lot of teasing and tears if you make sure there is nothing to be made of the initials.

Libby

Libby Report 21 Nov 2008 09:21

How peculiar. Just read the last two posts. I was christened as Elizabeth, always known as Libby and my maiden name was Gregory.

I am sure that as soon as you see the babe you will know just what to call him/her.

Lots of luck.

Hi Elizabeth
Why not start at the very begining?

If it's a boy = Aaron
If it's a girl = Alyson
If it's a mix = Alyron lol

When my cousin and his wife had a baby in September they called her Rosie May. Around the same time a friend of the family also had a baby girl who they called Connie Paige.

In a story I once wrote, I had my main character named Catherine Celeste with her two daughters being Juliette Cassandra and Rose Constance.

I really don't like the abbreviated names as proper names, I think it is nicer to give the full name and use the abbreviated version at home etc, gives the child a choice when older on how to be addressed, particularly in business dealings etc. Just my opinion obviously, each to his own, but when you sit in a playground and hear all the names the same.... for instance, Fern Britton called her little girl Winnie, but maybe Winifred would have been better so she had the choice, could have called herself Freddie or Winnie then.

I am sure when your little one is here, you will know exactly which name he or she suits.
