charley, if your not sure about the colour for the flowers for BMs... why not have them carry white prayerbooks/with black or white ribbons in them,as for the colour of dress's , it's your wedding!!!

Charley, Just read thru and agree with everyone.. It is your Wedding Day so your choice. I think it sounds stunning. I think the phrase Chic has been used and would second that.

When my daughter got married in 2003 she was guided by the florist on what flowers to have and she had Phalaenopsis Orchids not many flowers to choose from in November. When she was trying on wedding dresses the owner of the shop said you'll know when she has the right one by the way she stands and smiles and walks . She was spot on. It was not her usual style of dress but she looked wonderful as you will on your day. I compromised with the flowers on my wedding day and have always regretted it

Whatever you do just try and remember the day... sounds a strange thing to say but it will go sooooo fast and telling yourself to remember it will help

White weddings are a relative recent thing coming from the Victorian era, anyway your dress is ivory did not Princess Diana have ivory dress?

It is certainly the Brides choice. I had chosen a very fashionista type modern not traditional style outfit, and was criticised so much that I changed to a classic slim beaded white satin but with a coat flared sleeves and long train...I got my message across by lining the coat with "PURPLE". I often wished that I had stuck to my original design.
Yours sounds beautiful though and anyway we have to make a move to bring on "NEW" traditions as we advance through the 21st century. We do NOT want to go backwards to when a woman just did everything to please her man....... Men wear black/white mostly anyway....Good Luck and happy days...Susan

why dont the Bridesmaids wear ivory to?? with a sash of colour ...

I know your choice is what you want the black but I guess if its making your and your OH argue ...prehaps you can get what you want for YOURSELF and change the bridesmaids .....!!

difficult thing ..weddings !!

diffucult, im thinking of not doing it at all..... i always thought my wedding day would be special because the man i want to spend the rest of my life with would be standing nxt to me giving me his future and me him... instead ive got a mil who hates me, oh who thinks that after all the trouble wedding dress has caused isnt worth it so mayb i should either give up or turn up in a black bin bag, because obviously to him and his family me wearing a dress i have fallen in love with just doesn matter... i know that the marriage is for me and my partner to be united as one soul.... but i cant help but feel my wedding dress should make me happy,

Hi Charley,

Just a thought, but does your MIL have any daughters?

Just go ahead and make arrangements for what YOU want and don't involve your MIL from now on.

Unless, she's paying for some of it......

Is this the case?

I had a single white lily. After the ceremony I took it up and laid it on my dads grave.

You choose what suits you and your other half. If he doesnt want to look at a pic of your dress, fair enough, but ask him to look at something similar.
