We have fortnightly collections the smell is pretty disgusting in the summer

the rule is they will not walk more than 3 steps from the pavement to the bin, and if the handle is not facing the road they will not take it.

True i phoned and complained about it not being emptied and that is what a jobs worth at the council told me.

FUZZY BEAR Report 21 May 2008 20:26

it just makes you wonder though about rats and diseases with this fortnightly collection thing urghhh

I pour neat domestos into it now and then...seems to work.

If there are maggots, you can just empty them onto the garden and the birds will eat them.

I bag the rubbish & then put it in the wheelie-defeats the object but I don't want to get trapped upside down in it trying to clean it-be just my luck. :(

Wait 'til they get to your area Tory...........the local paper will erupt with the grumbles of the locals.....lol

personally I think they are a great idea.........I now send half the rubbish I used to into landfill........the estate I live on is much cleaner than it used to be...when the black bags used to split the rubbish left wasn't all cleared up by the bin men.
If anything I guess there are less rats......not that I saw any before........but I never seen on that can get into a closed wheelie bin.

You'll never guess!

I got home this afternoon and the bin was emptied!

I'd forgotten that they had changed the collection day to a Wednesday from a Tuesday!

And after I emailed the council a rather pointed note relating to council tax and things.

Oh dear.

I wish we had bins like that! I would love to see the council workers taking them down the 15 steps I have!!

Julie Report 21 May 2008 22:23

Lol Taff.....they wouldn't do that, that'd be your job. They wont collect ours if it's not outside our gate.
They didn't take the Garden Bin last week cos it was too heavy..!!

easiest thing to do is phone council tell them your wheelie bins been nicked, before they bring a new one hide your old one in the garage then youve got 2, i no it doesnt help to get rid of your rubbish if they dont collect it on the day they should, but it does give you somewhere to put your rubbish instead of in black bags
