Its almost an institutionalized kind of fear on here these days, with everyone constantly looking over their shoulders, too afraid to say anything the least bit rude or controversial for fear of censure from the "nasties" and the "Cliques"!

I think my definition of a real 'trouble maker' would have to be one that does not just confine themselves to the odd bit of nastiness on the these boards but carries it over to other sites and the 'real' world.

Unfortunately though a very small minority, there are people who get their pleasure from deliberately hurting others.

I mean, look at how dfifferent it was. Everyone got along, there were no nasty words, no cliques, no one threatening to leave, no bad tempers, no strops, no threads saying how good it used to be in the old days....

Being the eternal optimist I still think the good outweighs the bad on here. Unfortunately bad things seem to mostly happen at night when most of the more rational people are in bed, not all of course and it is those who take the brunt of it.

I have no intention of leaving and am paid up for another year.

Catherine left for many reasons, the main ones being she is very busy with her new teaching job which she want to concentrate on (Gwen, you asked, it is catherine in Manchester), she also doesn't have a lot to do on her tree, and finally she got fed up with people changing names and not knowing who she was talking to. (remember the thread the other night who am I?)

I tend to agree with her that the hiding behind different names is an aggravation we could do without because that way we are unable to avoid people who we would not normally chose to talk to because of provocation in the past.

I hope that not too many people leave because we still have some good debates and we also get a lot of support for our problems on here. if I have a query on anything this is the first place I turn to.

I think the difference between a group of friends and a clique is the intention to leave people out. I don't think many people on here deliberately leave people out of things unless there is a history thing going on - in fact I've never noticed anyone being cliquey in that way.

Like in anything, it's natural that people look for people they know and whose company they enjoy and avoid those they don't get on with.

I imagine everyone comes on here sometimes and feels left out of things. I know I do. Just life isn't it.

Plus, as Ann says, there are reasons why people feel cautious about those they don't know. Can't be helped unfortunately.

Julia ...I am sorry you feel that way...your always welcome ot add to anyones threads...some have been on here for ages and have formed firm friendships....I know where I shall not be welcome however if I feel I want to post do so.. ....some just don't get on....such as life...
