Not a nurse but work in the local PCT as a secretary. Yes I would say they have gone down hill and too many chiefs and not enough indians! |

S.E.N me. Have not been in the job for 20yrs, spent most of the rest being a patient and trying to teach young nurses at the same time as there seems to be a lot they are not taught now. Shortage of staff to feed patients is not new, can remember sitting between two and feeding them both, trying to remember that I might be hungry but not to feed myself. Jean |

read the past comments...As I started nursing in 89..as a student I have seen many changes throughout that time (if I knew it would change that much and with the politics..I wouldnt have joined)..I work in a busy A.,E department..and love it..unfortunately we are governed by politics..namely the 4 hr waits and likewise..takes u away from patient care..We as an NHS service have added pressures..an aging population..people coming into the country and using the service as a "free for all"..people ringing an ambulance for a broken toe..its Crazy..that said..I love my job..(on the most part!)..and it has made me the person I am today..I do agree there are still too many chiefs and not enough Indians..Though Im a Sister I still go out there and deliver patient care..Its why I went into nursing in the first place..I will not go up the ladder..because I will be just pen pushing..I would hate it! |
