Have you been the last to arrive at party where you expect to find lots of old pals to chat to, but when you get there the door is opend by a pal but once you walk into the room its full of strangers
with just the odd sprinkling of old friends who of course greet you warmly when you enter but then drift off and resume talking and laughing with people you dont know

So you wander off and get a drink look around the room and spot another old friend who is with some people you wander over in the hope of a chat and mebby make some new pals, you join in and try to be convivial and join in the banter and for a while it looks like your in the group, then you realise that actualy everyone is talking over your head, so you wait a while then slowly move away

you find an empty corner and lean against the wall and watch the room ebb and flow and the groups interchange as people move from one to the other.

As you stand there people nod in your direction friends drift past some stop and have a wee chat others just nod in your direction

It then dawns you it was a mistake to come to the party but your stuck as your taxi cant come back till the end of the night and you have pre paid for it

So your here till the end of the night

Ho hum best get another drink and room watch.

I understand what ya mean as at times I have felt the same way on here

but sorry if its not what ya want to hear but if we were at a party id be the annoying one gabbing in ya ear all night and probably making a prat of meself while ya stood there laffing at me lol

I,m the proverbial thread killer cos am too formal!!
I see many light hearted banters and wish i could join in but haven't the art,
Was brought up that black & white were the norm and there was no grey in between
Now on on face to face scenario i can banter all you like but I get anxious of being misinterpreted online

I think it feels like that sometimes for a lot of us who have been about a long while, Steve. It looks like there's no-one about to have a laugh with or none of yr mates or people who get yr sense of humour - when I feel like that I go off elsewhere. But then at other times all me muckers are about and it's fun or I enjoy talking to someone I don't know very well.

Probably our fault a bit for sticking around the people we feel easiest with and not getting to know newer people:)
