No. He aired his view and then added (to paraphrase) those who disagree with him are stupid. That's something quite different.

There is nothing wrong with having a different view on any subject.. I dont actually agree with your views on evolution Colin, but i consider myself intelligent enough to have a sensible conversation about it.

We will still disagree but i wont think that you are stupid..lol

Colin, have just returned and have discovered the interesting responses that have taken place. I would like to say Karrie you seem a very level headed person who can live and let live although views may be different. That is what is important in this life, and the world would be a better place if more people were like it. Also the others that have said similar, thanks for the support. Its not that you disagree with me colin but the fact that you said I was too stupid to have a 'conversation' with. I was also born and bred in the country and have seen animals being born but I have a different view. It would also be a very boring life if we all thought the same.
On a different topic altogether Colin, maybe you should have a few spelling lessons, I mean that in the nicest possible way, that way you wouldn't look stupid in front of others, unlike me. Sue

I seem lately to disagree a lot with many of your views on a few threads that you have posted or at least the way you have argued them.

I have to agree with Karrie to a degree in that I think your view or implication (not you) that people are stupid who do not share the same opinion as you comes across as arrogant (my words not hers)

However, what I do want to thank you for is the lively debates that you have generated :-) Thank you!!!!.

Also re Jerusalem being banned. Personally I don't think it should have been if people were playing it for private memorials.

PS I don't think a person's intelligence should be measured by their spelling ability. Even Shakespeare made spelling mistakes.

He could be dyslexic .

So its ok for one person to say another is stupid but when it is reciprocated (i know its a big word and Colin will have to look it up in his dictionary along with his encyclopaedia) bet he couldn't spell that , it is not okay. Because I am new and everyone knows Colin he is revered. The common thought now is that religion (or belief in religion) is a mental illness. Who quoted that Colin?
Pause whilst the pages rustle............ anyone in?

This is difficult for me,

I have 2 dyslexic children, believe in God, love the lines from Jerusalem and was born and bred in rural Cumbria, where does this leave me lol?

I'm not new but have taken a break from the boards for a while. So I don't know Colin. I've spotted a few of his threads recently which I thought made good debates.

I certainly don't revere him lol. Indeed, I seem to hold differing opinions to him. I must be one of the stupid ones lol

However, I stand by my point that I don't think a person's intelligence should be measured by their spelling ability. Re the spelling, do you believe that or were you just making a point? :-)

and was speaking of scientists, which i assume
you are not.I will happily philosophise on any subject
with anybody and those on here who have known me a long time know that to be true. All i was saying
which you seem to have steered out of contex is
i will not waste my time argueing with people who
should know better (Scientists) than the old
Greek drolory of Evolution.

Susan it has nothing to do with you being new or anyone reviring colin .He made a point and you replied I just feel that your replies are getting more personal.thats just my opinion which I believe I am allowed.you have twice thrown insults at someones opinion.It was just pointed out that the spelling could be down to other factors and to my knowledge academics has nothing to do with intelligence anyway. it leaves you in exactly the same position as myself. We simply have different views. I could say where does it leave me but I am certain of my beliefs therefore nobody can insult me. About being dyslexic, poor spelling is not always down to being dyslexic, just ignorance. Dyslexia is another matter and very unfortunate for your sons and it was not aimed at people with this problem, and I apologise if you felt it was. Sue

re spelling...it is not always dyslexia u r right but to say it is ignorance i feel is rather harsh.....my spelling is rubbish...sorry about that, it would be terrible though if i thought myself too ignorant to join in your debate...after all you need many options from different types of people to get a full picture i think.

As for Jerusalem....did you clarify colin if you was talking about the hymn or the place?...not that it matters much to my answer as i dont think banning either of them would be particularly helpful....unless i have missed the point here??
