My Mum banned us from watching Dr.Who for years because I used to hide behind the settee.

I loved Watch With Mother........especially The Wooden Tops and Pogles Wood.

Shillings in the meter......my Nan used to let me "feed" her meter when I went round to visit.....lol

What a super thread!

Who remembers 'stilts' made from golden syrup tins and string!
Hiding under the stairs from the 'tally man'.
And I remember the first time I got on a double decker bus on my own (I was about 8) - I was scared to go upstairs because I thought it cost more!! (Well it did at the pictures)

My cousin was rich she wore Clark's sandals, in a sensible brown to school, I used to stare, fascinated, at the shape of the little flower pattern on the top !
I had to wear lace -ups,I envied my cousin.

I remember doing handstands against the back passage wall and going into 'crab', playing double ball, and that one were you put a tennis ball in one of your mam's old stockings and stood with your back to the wall and bounced the ball/stocking off the wall then under you leg. Hanging by your benders {back of your knees] on monkey bars. And going to the ice-cream van with a cup. Finally, my mam going through my long hair on a Sunday night before school looking for nits, then tying it up in rags [old stockings] for ringlets the next day... I loved my childhood...
