On a family site like this, I think it would be nice to share little tips that are a god send for getting through life every day.

So any tips that you think fit the bill, feel free to add them, whether it be for preventing household waste, saving the environment or simply making life easier!

OK, I'll start you off.

Old telephone directories make ideal personal address books. Simply cross out the names and address of people you don't know

You didn't mention that while we are all busy trawling through the directories with our pen at the ready, we won't need to have our pc turned on so we will save all that energy at the same time.

Re the directory: you could pester everyone with the same surname as you and see if they fit into your family tree somewhere.

Save electricity by shortening the cables to all your household electric appliances.

1 capful white vinegar
1 capful washing powder/liquid
l squirt Fairy washing up liquid
Top with boiling water, let cool

Makes excellent cleaner for all types of things: floors, bathrooms, fridges, windows + makes house smell nice and clean.

When you buy the paper, stand out front of the shop and sell each section to others that you don't won't;
eg;
You want front page news, keep it,
sell the sports section you don't won't for the
same cost of the paper,
that person don't want the rest of the paper anyhow,
then sell the classifieds and gossip cols for the
same price, you don't want it.
buy the time it's all gone, you made a couple dollars and everyone got only what they wanted without
wasting it all.
