Hi everyone...I hope you don't mind me butting in on your thread... but is there any one who does scrapbooking please.

I started off towards the end of last year scrapping old photos that I had been given to me by my mother. My scrapbook has since turned into a journal of my maternal Devonshire ancestors....to go along side my family history research.

I am not into kit form just prefer to do my own thing!

I was just wondering if anyone had done the same.

Hallo everyone, sorry seem to have missed the thread a bit lately. Sorry to hear about all Patricia's problems and hope that things will improve fer her soon.

Good morning Linda and Havoc, yes I do scrapbooking (when I get time). I have done a family tree one tracing my family from Great Grandparents down to grandchildren. I also have a general one on the go. Love photography so the two seem to go together. I don't use kits but my pages tend not to have too many 'bits' on them so lean more towards being a photo album with information. I don't often do the one or two photos on a page thing!!!

Weather not so sticky now so a bit better for crafting.

I have kept mine in a box meant for filing 5 X 5 photos. Just so i can refer to them for ideas.

Many thanks Ginnie I will take a look at Ancesty.

When I first went into my local independent craft shop I couldn't believe my eyes...I didn't realise there was so much papercrafting stuff to be had...I was like a child at Christmas!!

Oh dear Ann...the first pages I did were very ott....but over the months I have redone them and they are now pretty simple.

Great fun....something else to bore the family with besides their family history...you would think I was "blinding them with science" lol.

I have since started another scrapbook with photos of our grandchildren....I found that quite difficult at first as I was used to using nostagia type papers etc but I am getting there.

Afternoon girls,

Linda, I love scrapbooking.I wish I had 'old' photos to scrap, but I don't, so I am collecting anything from the areas my ancestors came from, picked up a booklet called 'Fairford church and it's stained glass windows' quite interesting, also some old postcards. So I think my ancestory scrapbook will be based on theses sorts of things.
I go to a scrapbooking club once a month and scrap recent photos, I've completed an unthemed album so far.I also like doing small versions of scrapbooks and I've made quite a few of those.
Happy scrapbooking :)

Ros, I keep all of my cards from the group in a gift bag wrapped in tissue, in the hope of putting them all in a scrapbook ........... one day.

Hope everyone is ok, nice to see you back Ginnie :)

I keep my cards in a box at the moment, I do intend to put them in folders when I have the time. Love to look at all the different techniques and different way of doing things, learn such a lot!!

Scrapbooking is something else I intend to do, but again it is finding the time. So busy at the moment what with looking after the grandchildren and going in to look after my sister every day, card making at the moment is taking a back seat.

Have sent a mail out today regarding Christmas cards, anyone who did not receive it please get in touch with me.

Does anyone make their cards early and find that the glue comes off -this would worry me if I made them too early.I`ve made 3 x-stitch ones so far,

Hi Rosalyn,
I myself don't like using any form of glue at all. I keep to double-sided tape, available in so many different widths and, as far as I know, two colours. This is very strong. If I have made a mistake and want to take something off, then it is one ..... of a job, as it will rip your card too. Glue sometimes seeps through and also dries out. I have received cards which have come to me in pieces!
Lovely weather today. Haven't been on for a few days as I don't want to bore you with my health problems, but feeling a bit better again today, so "make hay whilst the sun shines"!
I have had another letter from Sweden from relation of mine, originally from Finland, and is pushing me for a long letter. This is what the thread was originally all about, wasn't it - genealogy!
She wants to take me to Finland. Well, she hasn't seen what an old crock I am. I'm going to ask her to come here, then she may change her mind. We have so much to tell each other to fill in gaps in our tree. I don't know where to start first.
See you tomorrow.

I meant the glue on adhesive embellishments or sticky squares , sorry not clear.Ros xx

HeatherinLeicestershire Report 5 Aug 2008 12:48

Afternoon girls,

Ros, yes I know what you mean about embellishments.I have nightmares about my cards falling apart when they get to someone :(
More often than not, now I use silicone glue,(for embellishments) just the same as what you use i diy jobs but comes in smaller tubes. It's good, but you have to leave it to dry for a few hours before it sets.Like Sylvia, I use double sided tape, you can get some that is extra strong, comes with a red relief backing, a bit more expensive tho.I use the one from Rymans(partners), it holding everything on up to now.

It's wet and dreary here, no hope of sunshine today.
The men are fishing, so I can do what I want :)

Take care all

I use double sided tape where I can. actually do you think it would be a good idea if we asked people to tell us if the embellishments have fallen off when they receive them? That was we will know not to use that method again. I don't mind if anyone tells me.

So far, from our group i have not had any that have parted company with the card when I have received them.

Sylvia, it would be lovely for you to meet up with your contact from Sweden so hopefully she can come to you. Hope you are feeling better now.

Hi all,
Well very hot, sticky weather here. Johan and I took the taxi into town and went to the market and some shops. I had a "ball" as there was a shop with lots of cheap bits and bobs for card making. I originally went into town to apply for a new passport and had time to spare. I have to pick up my passport next week so will have to go to the shops again.

Hallo all,
Where are you all? No notes since my last of 6th August. Come on don't let the side down. I know, you are all trying to beat me and finish your Xmas cards, be honest.
The weather is appalling, rain, rain and thunder, then more rain.
I was sick of staying in so said to Johan yesterday afternoon to come with me to where our granddaughter works as she is going on holiday on Monday and won't see her for a couple of weeks. She is going with her brother, our grandson who is 23 yrs. They are going to Bulgaria. Why there? because it is cheap and they don't have much money.
Have a nice Sunday girls.
