I would like to bring this thread out again so that people can re read all the lovely verses on here, so many folk have lost loved ones recently and there may be words on here that could give comfort and healing tears.

This is such a beautiful thread. I'm so pleased it had been nudged as I had not read it before.

I have copied the verses as they are so beautiful and comforting.

Chrissie, I am glad you found it, there have been a lot of people losing loved ones recently so I thought it might help someone, but no one seemed to notice I had nudged it. I am not sure how you found it but glad you did and glad it has given you the opportunity to read the lovely verses and words on here.
If you have a special verse of your own that isn't already here, do add it please.

Together the road we’ve travelled
Holding my hand, you’ve led
I stand in the valley of shadows
Because you have gone ahead.

We met at the foot of life’s mountain
Young then, with courage we went
And all the path glowed then with sunlight
And stumbling blocks seemed heaven sent.

Hand in hand then we travelled together
Through sunshine, or vale of despair
And nothing could daunt us, or harm us
As each other knew the other was there.

Sometimes we would pause in the valley
Or happily tread on life’s way
And each night we’d rest with the sure hope
Tomorrow, a new climbing day.

And then, we grew older and slower
But still journeyed on, hand in hand
Looking back, life was greyer and dimmer
Than the glow of the bright promised land.

Remember Me

It’s been a while since I left you
and I know you bear a heavy heart.
For years we were the best of friends
and in your eyes, we’re now apart.

Though it may be true my idle feet
no longer tread the grounds of earth,
it is you who can truly justify
what the steps they took are worth.

Realize now that I am only gone
if you choose for me to be…
if you hesitate to speak my name
or recall each memory.

If you reject the image of my face
because it brings you pain,
then my life, my love, my laughter
will all have been in vain.

I know you miss my presence
