Jenny...The first sign that the lambs are coming is the appearance of the water bag. The bag will be filled with a clear fluid. Once the water bag breaks, the lambs should be born within 30 minutes. On the web cam this may not be very clear but they will look swollen round that area

Hi Jenny,
The udder is actually two halves... the crease is just accentuating it.

The lambs are in the uterus and are really no different to a human in that respect.

The Udder will 'bag up' which means it will get bigger the nearer she is to lambing.

♥ Kitty the Rubbish Cook ♥ Report 12 Mar 2008 22:14

The udder is the milk bar for the lambs..................just like a cows udder, you can see the teats if the sheep stands in the right place long enough.

The lambs are in the womb...............same as all mammals:))

You look very intelligent, but I'd worry about the person who said the udder was where the lambs were :))

Right going to ask a serious question now.

I have read that the baby is in the Ewes Udder.

Have you noticed when the Ewe has her back to us, that some udders have a 'crease like a bum'
But some are just like a balloon???
Could this tell us when the Ewe is about to give birth or is it just the way the baby is lying?

Jenny. ( trying to be intelligent now,) Lol. x

Eeewwww......................don't think I want to come back as a sheep!!

It is educational though....................I was raised on a farm, dairy and wheat, no sheep, so have found this really interesting.

Night night Joy.......sleep tight.

They are ruminants Kitty and yes they are chewing the cud.

The food goes into the 1st stomach, the rumen, and when they sit down and relax they regurgitate and chew, it then goes into the true stomach.

They must chew the cud like cows do, have to google and find out.
