Easter Bunny Report 27 Dec 2010 10:01

we have an artificial one. We used to have a real one each Christmas until a few years ago. Do you always use the same decorations / baubles each year or do you choose a new theme?

*$parkling $andie* Report 28 Dec 2010 03:26

Anyone else wondering what the big Archers story is going to be tonight?

Easter Bunny

Easter Bunny Report 2 Jan 2011 14:28

ooh Lizzie, I haven't listened to the Archers for months so am lost off. I used to tune into radio 4 every day but now alternate between premier which is a Christian station and star radio which is a local one (Durham).

Which room do you do your ironing in?

I've had letter for an apt for a mammogram, I'm over 50.Live in Wales.

Does anyone else have regular checks after that age ?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 3 Jan 2011 11:27

I hate all these things and am very naughty about making appointments for them. We moved here soon after I was 50 and had a letter forwarded from our old area too late for the appointment that had been offered me. I had a letter last year offering me a chance to make an appointment here because they noticed I'd moved around the right age and might have missed being offered one. I haven't done anything about it. I know it's a completely stupid way to behave but if I go to the surgery about something else and they catch me to make an appointment there, then I'll go all sheepish and make the appointment with them. I'll keep it then, I don't just not turn up or cancel if I've actually made the appointment face to face. I'm like that with my smears too. Same with the dentist - as long as I don't feel I have any problems I wait till I have the letter saying they'll take me off their list if I haven't been by a certain time. Always made sure the kids went on time though, but managed to organise it so they went along with OH most of the time.

It's trying to snow here. What's the weather doing with you at the moment?.

*$parkling $andie* Report 3 Jan 2011 12:25

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 28 Feb 2011 15:01

No ,we usually self cater in small apartment blocks with a pool or in a villa.
Tho we have met some smashing people whilst away but haven't exchanged addresses.

What sort of heating do you have ?

Easter Bunny

Easter Bunny Report 11 Mar 2011 13:51

gas fires and central heating.
Do you ever use a hot water bottle?

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 12 Mar 2011 09:40

Not since I started having hot flushes! Lol. These days I'm more likely to get too hot in bed. But I used to use one occasionally if I felt unwell. Until 1990 though it would be every night in winter as it wasn't until then that I had a home with central heating.

When did you first have central heating in your home?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 12 Mar 2011 23:18

Think I must have got away lucky Dizzie Lizzie.. no hot flushes.

The central heating was already installed when we moved here in 1977, tho there are no existing radiators now , all changed and we have combi boiler, rather than a 'back boiler' behind the gas fire.

How many sets of keys do you have for your house ? (Hope they are safe)

Easter Bunny

Easter Bunny Report 14 Mar 2011 08:55

4
Do you keep a set of keys for your neighbour?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 14 Mar 2011 13:36

No ..not normally, I have 2, everyone else has one in the house has one each , we leave one with a neighbour when we go on hols.

Do you have a house alarm system..?

We had to knock ours off when we had my dad's dog..but he was as good as any alarm:)

DizzieLizzie

DizzieLizzie Report 17 Mar 2011 08:30

There's one in our house, but the previous people never used it as they didn't know the code. There was a continual light shining on it to show it could be activated if we knew the code. We had a local alarm engineer come round to see if they could do something so that we could start to use it, but it's such an old system it would need completely updating. As we don't really have much worth stealing we decided to decommission it so at least it wasn't using the electricity unnecessarily, but the box is still on the front of the house.

The weather's gone really dull, cold and misty after some really bright days. Two days ago it was actually really warm too, I think about 17 degrees, but some places had snow on the same day. What's it doing your way?

*$parkling $andie*

*$parkling $andie* Report 17 Mar 2011 10:07

It's a lovely sunny day and I am about to put some washing out, another load already in.

I'm a good time keeper and hate it when peeps are late .
I wear a watch all the time.. ( not intended as a pun)lol

What are you like with your time keeping..?

Easter Bunny

Easter Bunny Report 17 Mar 2011 16:00

very prompt if not early. I get very cross with people who keep me hanging about. In fact with ditherers in general.
Are you any good at needle crafts?

Fiona aka Ruby

Fiona aka Ruby Report 17 Mar 2011 19:21

When I was at school I got an 'E' for needlework, and I've never really recovered from that lol. Thank goodness I only have to sew on a button now and again.

What things were you taught when you were younger that you've never had to do in adult life?
