I have already added but would like to say that my thought was also a life membership, but I didnt think GR would go for that unless Errol is in his 90s!

But then, think of how much money they would lose if he hadnt helped and members left the site in droves.

I havent added Colin and Steve because it was just Errols thread that I was reading at the time, but if they also helped people then they should also get a thank-you from GR.

Huia.

Well done to all the knights in shining armour who came to the rescue, nice to see men have their uses lol
Seriously, it would be nice to see such efforts rewarded by gr, they stood to lose a lot of money and reputation, and these chaps saved the day for them, working hard while gr stuck their heads in the sand!
Cheers, fellas!

I would also like to add my support to Errol.

He was one of the first to realise there was a problem and was able to convince GR that is was possibly coming via the site.

At this stage no-one really understood what the was causing it and Errol kindly agreed to collate feedback from members, in order to trace the source.

Sadly there were some who took umbrage with this and in standing up for himself, Errol ended up getting his wrists slapped by GR for having a head to head with a certain member.

At this point he made it plain that he did not want to be involved any further.

GR removed the offending advert the next day.

It is now time to move on, but in closing I wonder how many people were actually affected by this episode, in that their PC was damaged by this?

Good work from Errol, Colin, a member called Sick Parrot, and others, and I add my thanks for all their assistance - I may have worked in IT for yonks, but am pretty clueless about problems like these!

I was unaffected by the problem, mainly due to a very overworked norton, but I did read all the threads and I learnt a lot about how to deal with problems which may well come in handy in the future.
A big thank you to Errol for freely giving of his time and expertise.

Peter, I am apalled that anybody could have taken umbrage at what Errol was doing to help. I missed that, it was probably when I was in bed, being in New Zealand.
