My GGF died at 29 he was a hatter.....he died of phneoiona (sp) most of the family was even his sister Mary married one....

Hello again Hayley...me is the posh one from Cheshire lol. Looking forward to the meet!!

I found out that mercury was used in the hat trade and eventually affected the brain hence "mad as a hatter"...but you probably know this already lol.

Sadly my dad died in 1989 of cancer...he worked at Christies Hat Works...we were asked by his consultant if he had ever worked with mercury..we had no idea at the time....makes you wonder!! No health and safety then!!

that's actually really sad. My 2xgreat grandmother died a few days after giving birth to her son... he was born on the same day as me (not the same year obviously ;-) ) I didn't even know he existed until I started doing this despite his sister (my ggrandmother) only dying when I was 15. Alot seems to have happened the year I was 15. Hmm
