To narrow it down a bit here are births in Aston where the maiden name of the mother is Bailey (it's only possible to search up to 1920 unfortunately - it's from the familyrelatives site). Some of these are probably to unmarried mothers but perhaps one of them is your friend's brother - maybe Leonard? You probably know that you can send off for certificates where you put in conditions so you don't waste money sending off for ones with the wrong parents. |

This looks quite likely as it is registered in Birmingham the same as your friend not North or South just plain Birmingham same as his. I have just spoken to my dad and he says Aston is central Birmingham so I like this one!! It is handwritten at the bottom |

I've now done 1927-1932, whilst there are loads in Birmingham N and S. Your friend was registered in Birmingham so I think we need to concentrate on this post 1924 and Aston and or Birmingham prior to this. |
