Have to add this, James will go spare when he finds out. When I met my husband I thought he was gay. Don't ask me why, I just had that feeling. Well he had bought a home on Queen St here in Midland, and the next street over is called Manly St. So the joke was poor James, there he is not knowing what to do with himself stuck in between Queen and Manly.

There is a Lower Upham near Bishop's Waltham in Hampshire, and a village called Pink Green just south of Birmingham. On a local note. There were 2 houses in Southbourne with their gates adjacent to each other. One was named Hitchin and the other Merrilea. One day some wag changed them to read "Scratchin Happilea" I won't tell you who did it. Jim

Hi, Here in Wiltshire we have a 'Snappersnipes'! We also have a village called 'Gastard'. The 'G' on the sign is always being changed! We also have a 'Scotland' an 'Ireland' about half a mile from each other! Thanks for the laughs. Teresa.

Yes there is a village called Ugley on the Essex border - only a few miles away, just past the Hertfordshire border is a village called Nasty. We are waiting for the local news headline "Nasty man weds Ugly woman". Also, there is an Ugley Womens Institute and the local nursery is called the Ugley Ducklings!

Peeover is pronounced Peever. We have a Willey Lane in our village, and a house that was called Willey Croft, but the new owners changed it to Willow Croft. Shame! What about Cowroast in Hertfordshire?
